Recently in I game I was having with an esteemed gaming buddy he raised the question of the validity of utilizing toxic sacs along with lash whips/bone swords. I had always believed that because the nid codex states that bugs don't actually use cc weapons in the conventional sense that other armies do that they were allowed to to do so, and indeed all the nid players I know do so, and in our community this is the first time the question has been raised. I've checked various forums on this subject and the opinions in the matter seem pretty sharply divided. So I'm wondering if there is a Dakka consensus on the subject.

They stack. It's in the FAQ.

As far as I'm aware, they stack just fine. For starters, "Toxin Sacs" are not a close-combat weapon, so the normal "no stacking special close combat weapons" rule wouldn't apply - it simply makes their close-combat attacks Poisoned (4+). So if they were attacking with a special close-combat weapon (such as a bonesword) the bonesword would be the weapon they're using, and their close combat attacks (not the weapon) become Poisoned (4+).

Regardless of what the FAQ says, RAW, they stack just fine.

True, I was pointing out a source if his opponents needed something more solid than just an interpretation. RAW they stack, but it's not always so easy to prove it to some.

To be fair boneswords do not count as CCW either.

Exactly. You could have units with Toxin Sacs, Rending Claws, and Scything Talons and they'd benefit from all because they are not weapons, they simply affect all of the model's attacks.

Ask for page 33 of the Tyranid Codex.

Even the tyranid close combat weapons are not close combat weapons, let alone Special Close Combat Weapons.

Indeed they don't! I did not realize that bit. I stand corrected. Thank you, sir.

Thank you for the response folks, seeing as how no one has chimed in on the negative it would seem that the conventional wisdom does indeed rule the day, and eldar wraith lords shall jut have to continue to fear warriors with lash-bones sword/toxic sacs combos. (With one set scything talons thrown in for good measure.)

Remember that "conventional wisdom" is also explicitly confirmed by GW - have a look at the nid FAQ
