K is this using models you currently have or models you are planning on buying? If buy what is your budget.

AKA, the list isn't legal nor will it go far.

I have the Farseer and 3 Warlocks, 2 10man squards of Guardians, 1 10man squard of Dire Avengers and the Wraithlord

Tactically, do keep in mind that you WILL have to keep your Spiritseer near your Wraithlord for it to work. If you employ a squad of them, they'll be super vulnerable to shooting and you'll be reluctant to send them into close combat, where they're more valuable. Instead, attach a Spiritseer to a Guardian squad. The Guardians can meat-shield the Spiritseer and screen the Wraithlord from melee threats.

Oh sorry did'nt make that clear ...

The Warlocks are in a squard with the Farseer and i was thinking of moving the Wraithlord with them and just use the Guardians as Tank Snipers... with the rest of the squard there for support incase of Flank or Drop Pods Ect

Something like that... Not quite sure tbh

Ah nice, then you aren't totally hurting. So here we go.

First off some pointers on your original list:

Wave Serpents - You must take a heavy weapon choice for your up top weapon selection.

Warlocks unit - On foot, they are just simply too slow, and a 4 man unit will get crushed rather easily

Banshees - Solid choice depending on your army's makeup, your point cost is off though.

Guardians - remember, these little guys are VERY squishy with los leadership and BS. At BS3 that pricey brightlance will only even hit 50% of the time and that isn't taking into account penetrating dmg etc. Always take a warlock and preferably scatter laser.

Dire Avengers - I really hope you didn't model the PW/SS. While it looks pretty, DA are terrible in Close Combat so there is not reason to use that upgrade.

Wraithlord - Keep your role for your wraithlord focused, with that build you have half anti-tank/half melee. Only ever go with BL/EML or only a Wraithsword.

Reapers - While they look cool on paper they fail in game. They can't move and shoot making them sitting targets for most anything.

I'll post an example starter list for you in just a sec...

Personally I wouldn't put the Bright Lances on the Guardian squads since they are Heavy 1. This only gives you one shot at a time on units that aren't in assualt range. You will get run over. Consider using Missle Launchers the blast template will help wittle down numbers of other infantry units coming your way to challange objectives.

The 3x Spiritseer upgrade seems a little overkill on the warlocks. Just have this unit stay close to your wraithlord. Your Wlord will help keep the focus away from them. Conceal is a 5+ cover save, Warlocks have a 4+ invuln. Enhance is not cumlative so more than one is pointless unless that one dies.

DAs are okay consider putting them a a Wave serpent to get accross the board.

I'm not a fan of the Reapers. A Fire Prism would cost less and give you a S9 AP2 + blast or S5 AP4 +large blast.

Your original list seems like it woul have a hard time against armour unless you assualt with the Wlord. And an even harder time with hordes. You are also missing manditory choices on the Wave Serpent.

To start out with go buy 2 Serpents and 2 Fire Prisms and you'll be viable at that point (with alterations to what you currently have.

Farseer w/ both runes, doom, guide, Spirit stones (goes with the DA)

5 Fire Dragons
Wave Serpent w/ Scatter Laser

10 Guardians w/ Scatter Laser + Warlock w/ Embolden
Wave Serpent w/ Scatter Laser

10 Guardians w/ Scatter Laser + Warlock w/ Embolden
Wave Serpent w/ EML

10 Dire Avengers w/ Exarch, Bladestorm, Dual Avenger S Catapults
Wave Serpent w/ EML

Wraithlord w/ Wraithsword and Dual Flamers

Fire Prism with Holofield

Fire Prism with Holofield

That will bring you up to 1497 pts so you can work on that bit of expansion first. You'll eventually figure out you want eldrad in place of the farseer and guardians are already but a bit on the meh side.

With this list you have the guardians in Serpents which allows you to drop them off in cover or keep them in the Serpent to keep them safe. The Farseer will cast guide on the DA and doom on their target before you get out and unload hell on something with Bladestorm. The prisms, well you'll quickly figure out what they are for Finally your Wraithlord in that cinfig is a 100 pt missile sponge. Move + Run him straight at your target and laugh as your enemy blows shots on him vs shooting at your tanks.

Total purchases:

4 Wave Serpents, 1 pack of Fire Dragons, 2 Fire Prisms, all of these you will use VERY often as a Eldar player. Prioritize your money on the Wave Serpents.

Thanks Alot will really think about what you have said.

But the the list i posted... i fount it to be a nice balance between range and melee did'nt really want to go all range if you know what im saying..

But that being said if i did'nt have any models to work around would it be the same list for a new player or different because the only reason i ourchased the Guardians is because the guy at my local store said start with Troops and build from there and he said Guardians but from what i have seen and read they suck -.-

So if you not to busy could you do a different list of what you think would be the best units for me ?

Thanks

Starting with troops isn't a bad idea but Guardians have little use except camping on an objective. Dire Avengers and Jet bikes will go farther.

Honestly, start from the list I posted. That will get you the least money invest up front and you will ALWAYS use those units. As far as melee goes we only have 2 choices in my opinion: Banshees and Seer council on Jetbikes. I left the banshees out because that would be two less boxes you have to purchase out the gate, but at 1500 pts they would be replacing one of your sets of Guardians. As you move into the 2k realm you'll want to invest in some jetbikes and you'll see your list evolve from there.

Other melee choices:

Seer council on foot: You'll get of your serpent, smash something (probably) and spend the rest of the game playing chase the tank. Bad points investment.

Seer council on Jetbike: Pricey both in $ and points. Read around, they need no introduction.

Scorpions: No power weapons and not fleet. They are very hard to get into CC and when they do, your opponent gets armor and FNP saves.

Harlies: Oh my beloved harlies, if only you weren't so fragile. For 250+ points you get a pretty unit... that falls over from a strong breeze.

Shining Spears: YAY! 35 pts per model with the survivability of a Guardian jetbiker... fail.

Dire Avengers: no no no no no no no. Exarch may be decent but his S3 T3 4+ armor 1 attack buddies are the equivalent of teenage schoolgirls slap fighting.

Wraithlords: Take up the precious heavy slots, and in CC they only get 2 attacks. Great for cutting a tank in two, but fail for taking down whole units.

So why are Serpents so important ? In all most every list i see there have 3 or 4 why is this ?

They are honestly the best thing we have. Front and Side 12 armor with anything hitting it above S8 counting as str 8 negates melta ordinance etc. This makes them incredible resilient, fast, and with Twinlink heavy weapons they put out great fire power. Add to that the fast that eldar are squishy on foot and most units don't fair well in CC it makes them a necessary evil.

What makes Eldar good (excluding foot eldar very specific builds) is their speed, fire power, and dirty tricks. 3/4ths of Eldar games that involve objectives can solely be won thanks to move up to 24" last round and getting on those objectives forcing you enemy to try and pop the tank to avoid losing which is rather difficult.

Right i think i kinda understand... but does every unit really need a transport or just the ones you need to run in quick and slow the opponents advance ?

Because i was thinking about dropping the Farseer for Eldrad and marching him up the field with 2 10 man DA squards while the Serpent with FD squard fly in and then have Wraithlords march in with Eldrad but at the front taking the the hits for them

It's pretty much non-negotiable unless you do a specific foot type list. DA and most other units will be slaughtered on foot. So yes, all units to except harlies, pathfinders, Dark Reapers, etc need a transport.

Wave serpents are infantry transports. Since Eldar infantry are very fragile, a well-armored, fast-moving tank to get them across the field is a great thing. Many lists use serpents to deliver a deadly payload of offensively powerful, but defensively vulnerable footmen to annihilate isolated targets.

It's only one style of playing Eldar but widely respected for its competitive capacity. It's certainly not cheap to buy, so if you can I recommend proxying in some games first to see if you like it.

BlueDagger knows what he's talking about, that's for sure. Many Eldar games I see or read about end in some sort of tricky objective-snag or with the enemy's army simply being too slow to react to such a profusion of fleet infantry and skimmers.
