Sorry if this has been asked before. I tried to do a search but it was listing some really awkard stuff that really didn't have anything to do with what I searched on.
Question is simple: Say I have an Archon with a Shadow Field and he has a Pain Token. He takes a wound and fails his Shadow Field save. I then take my FNP roll and I am successful with it. Do I still lose the Shadow Field? FNP states that you ignore the wound, so I am a little hazy on how that interacts with Shadow Field.

The Shadow field is an invulnerable save if I remember correctly. If any invulnerable save is failed, it doesn't get the bonus of FNP. FNP counts for average armor saves.

Huh? Yes it is an Invulnerable save. If the save is failed, the Shadowfield shuts off for the rest of the game.
But what makes you think you can't take FNP when you fail an Invulnerable?

If you fail the Shadowfield save, you can still take a FNP save as along as you are able to take an FNP save (eg: the weapon was not ID or Ap1/2). However, if you fail the Shadowfield save but pass the FNP save, you still lose the Shadowfield, as although the wound was ignored, the save was failed.

Fnp ignores the wound, and nothing else. I'm pretty sure he loses the field.

Does this mean that if the save was ignored (warscythe for example) the shadow field wont go down despite the character being wounded? Technically the Save wasnt failed, because it wasn't taken.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Correct, but if you have a warscythe hitting you in the face you have bigger things to worry about then keeping your Shadowfield lol

You will lose the shadowfield as you have failed a save with it, even though you did not lose a wound. The shadowfield only says it goes out for failing a save, it doesn't say if you failed a save and lost a wound.

You fail the Shadowfield save, it goes away.
FNP can still ignore the wound after that point, assuming it's not double the archon's T, AP1 or 2, or from an attack that always ignores armor saves, any of which would negate FNP.

I thought if you ignore a save, it counts as them failing it. Or am I having 3rd, 4th ed flashbacks again?

Must be a flashback of some kind, if one never attempts a save one can't fail it. It just means one skipped the step that allows the stopping of a wound.

No, it's never been properly defined far as I know. You'll suffer an unsaved wound, that is true... but have you actually failed the Shadow Field save if you didn't get to roll it?
