And now for something completely different.
A 2v2 Eldar battle.
That’s right. All the Eldar players in the store that night looked at each other and said “oh, it’s on like Donkey Kong!”
Each player fielded 750 point lists and we played Seize Ground with Spearhead deployment.
My team won the roll-off to deploy and take first turn. Enemy team failed to seize the initiative.
My army consisted of:
HQ: Autarch w/ Jetbike, Mandiblasters, Fusion Gun, Laser Lance
Troops: x6 Jetbikes w/ x2 Cannons; x6 Dire Avengers
Heavy: Fire Prism w/Spirit Stones; Falcon Tank w/ Scatter Lasers, Spirit Stones
Fast
Atk: Vyper w/Scatter Lasers; Vyper w/ Scatter Lasers
My teammate, who is new to the ways of the Eldar, brought with him:
HQ: Farseer w/Runes of Warding, Guide, Fortune
Troops: x10 Guardians w/Scatter Laser; X5 Dire Avengers w/Exarch, x2 Catapults, Bladestorm; x5 pathfinders
Elites: x8 Fire Dragons w/Exarch, Firepike, Tank Hunters +Wave Serpent w/ Scatter Lasers, Spirit Stones
Player 1 of the enemy team had:
HQ: Autarch (He didn’t give his Autarch any gear. Said he wanted to save points)
Troops: x8 Jetbikes w/x2 Cannons; Two squads of x7 Dire Avengers w/Exarch, x2 Catapults, Bladestorm loaded in Wave Serpents w/ Missile Launchers
Player 2 of the enemy team had:
HQ: Farseer w/Runes of Warding, Guide, Singing Spear
Troops: Two squads of x5 Pathfinders
Heavy: Wraithlord w/Bright Lance and Scatter Laser; Fire Prism w/Spirit Stones and Holo Fields; x2 War Walkers w/ x2 Bright Lances and x2 Scatter Lasers
Turn 1:
My Team shuffled around to create a wall down the center of the table.
Wave serpent with Fire Dragons moved flat out behind a forest and my bikes turbo boosted up the center.
My shooting was pretty uneventful as I killed only one Pathfinder. My teammate’s pathfinders, however, gunned down the enemy wraithlord with four rending shots!
Enemy team shuffled about as well while their jetbike squad turbo boosted behind a forest to try to outflank us.
Their shooting was also pretty uneventful. A pathfinder squad immobilized and shook one of my vypers, but that was it.
Turn 2:
My partner unloaded his dragons close to a wave serpent to unleash melta hell while everything else moved up to get clear shots at their targets.
The enemy’s energy fields were not enough to stop seven fusion guns and a firepike from blowing it to smithereens and killing half of the Avengers inside.
Shooting from other sources whittled the squad down further to just two models. Unfortunately, though, their morale did not break.
My teammate’s shooting has been really good so far, but I’ve yet to kill anything else. Hopefully that will change soon.
A squad of War walkers came in from reserve while the jetbikes continued to turbo boost closer to our objective.
Fortunately, the walkers outflanking roll did not put them behind us. Unfortunately, they shook my Fire Prism.
I forgot to do the jetbike slide in my previous assault phase, and the squad suffered four casualties from the enemy Prism.
Enemy sniper fire tried to gun down the surviving bikes, but my Autarch’s invlun saves blocked the rending shots like a boss. His leadership also kept the squad from flying away.
The surviving enemy Avengers shot at the Fire Dragons and killed one. They charged, but everybody whiffed and got locked in combat.
Turn 3:
I moved my surviving bikes to bail out my buddy’s Fire Dragons, but lost one due to landing in dangerous terrain. Moved my Vyper Flat out just because it had nothing better to do.
Meanwhile, my partner’s Avengers, who have not taken any casualties yet, moved closer to the enemy to engage in some fisticuffs.
Once again, my shooting was awful and I only killed one bike.
In the assault phase my Autarch squished the remaining Avengers tying up the Fire Dragons then used the massacre roll to hide behind a friendly Wave Serpent.
Friendly Avengers charged the pathfinders and Farseer, killing one and losing one, resulting in a tie combat.
War Walkers exploded my Falcon tank, exposing my Dire Avengers, who were wiped out by enemy jetbike fire.
Second squad of enemy Avengers unloaded and Bladestormed friendly Dragons, killing all but the Exarch. Fire Prism destroyed friendly Serpent’s scatter laser.
The enemy then fired a crack missile at the Exarch. He went to ground and rolled:

. Amazing. I was so jealous of my teammate’s luck.
In the assault phase the friendly Avengers put a wound on the enemy Farseer, but remained locked in combat.
Turn 4:
I separated the Autarch from the one remaining bike to try to pop the enemy Fire Prism with the Fusion un.
My buddy’s pathfinders start hoofing it across the table edge to help grab/contest the enemy’s objective.
For some reason, he separated his Farseer from his guardians, who then left the safety of the woods so they could get in range of the jetbikes.
Once again, shooting was very uneventful as we were only able to kill one more bike. Even my Autarch failed at killing the Prism due to low rolling for armor penetration.
He tried to spear it to death in close combat, but low rolling saw no damage to the tank.
The combat in the center of the table saw the Avengers killing off the enemy pathfinders and Farseer.
Enemy jetbikes continued to be a pain and scooted closer to our objective. The enemy Avengers loaded back inside the Serpent, which scooted away from the Autarch.
They fired a crack missile at my general (!!!), but poor rolling failed to hurt him. Fire Prism fired at my jetbike, but missed.
The Jetbikes opened fire on my partner’s guardians and, because they were out in the open, were practically wiped out.
Their morale held, but the enemy jetbikes charged and cut them down, claiming our objective.
Turn 5:
Do or die time. I have my lone jetbike turbo boost to claim the enemy objective. My friend’s pathfinders tried to run closer to it, but rolled a one.
My Autarch zoomed over to the Serpent to toast it with his fusion gun while the lone Fire Dragon Exarch stood back up and walked closer to the Fire Prism to poke it with his Fire pike.
Our Farseer ran back to our objective to try to contest it as did my Fire Prism.
My poor Autarch rolled a one for his shooting…BUT, since he is
BS 6, I can reroll and hit on a six. I rolled again and got:

.
The Serpent’s energy fields were no match against my dice as they rolled two more sixes and exploded the offending vehicle.
In my assault phase the Autarch charged the remaining Avengers and killed them all with contemptuous ease.
Meanwhile, the Fire Dragon exarch immobilized the Prism and then slapped on a melta bomb, keeping it from shooting.
The Farseer was fortunate enough to get in charge range of the bikes and attacked, but neither side succeeded in dealing any damage.
Not much moving as there was little left of their forces.
In the shooting phase, though, the war walkers aimed their guns at my lone bike and shot it down.
Pathfinders tried to gun down my Autarch, but missed their shots.
We rolled to see if the game would end, but the dice demanded to see more blood and we went on to turn six with what little forces we had left.
It turned out to be the final turn of the game and not much happened.
My Autarch charged into the pathfinders in the woods and slaughtered them, but the Farseer and bikes sitting on our objective failed to do any damage.
And so the game ended in a bloody draw.
Dead Eldar littered the snowy battlefield with Slaanesh being the true winner of this contest Oh well; at least Saim-Hann honor has been preserved

.
I admit, this game was extremely silly, but it was fun and I wouldn’t mind doing it again.
It was more of a learning experience for everyone else because they weren’t as familiar with the ways of the Eldar.
One player believed that the witchblade was a power weapon (god, I wish) and another thought he could load a shuriken cannon on the Autarch’s bike.
So mistakes were made, weird lists were used, but it was all in good fun because we were just in it for the lulz anyways.
