Looking at the new DreadKnight model for Grey Knights got me thinking.

This would make a great candidate to convert into a Penitent Engine for a Sisters of Battle army. Problem is I haven't ever seen an actual Penitent engine. I assume it is the size of a dreadnaught, and surely this DK isn't any larger than that. I would need to get the front piece off a PE as well as the crusified person on the front of the actual engine is just awesome.

My question to the masses, is from what we can see, do these models match up in size well enough to do this, and is that person on the front of an actual PE separate from the body, or is it all one piece?

Looks to be similar in size, though maybe a little shorter? I think the lineage is clear.

Looks like it would work. Here is a thread that might help you out:

It looks like it comes with two heretics, so you could essentially use one in the conversion.

That's a terminator strapped into the Dreadknight...it looks pretty massive. I would imagine that a dreadnought, or the penitent engine only comes up to about the waist of the guy driving the Dreadknight.

Actually, looking at it again, I may be thrown off by the base size...making it look taller than it actually is.

One last edit, to sate my OCD:

That's assuming the DK is mounted on the same base as the Tyranid Trygon (which is what it looks like, based on the rim edges).

Damn, guess I didn't realize how large the DK is. Might still do this for fun, but doubt it would be tourny legal (I know I know, depends on the person putting on the tournament).

Well if you end up getting a PE, just take one of the heretics and see what it would look like in place of the GK. Proportion wise, there isn't too much of a difference between the DK and the PE. Look at the legs of the PE. If they were straightened they would be as tall as the DK's legs. In addition, the torso of the PE is set down really low and is not resting on the top of the legs like the DK.

A TO might be less inclined to say no since it's larger and would make it easier for your opponents to target.

Penitent Engines are Dreadnought sized. A better base to convert from would be an IG Sentinal legs, Defiler mid body, Killa Kan/Deff Dred CCW arms, and any plastic human type figure (eldar trimmed down could work or an aftermarket female IG figure).

Life isn't fair. But wouldn't it be worse if Life were fair, and all of the really terrible things that happen to us were because we deserved them?

I'd put the penitent engine legs on the Dread Knight, and then base it on some rocks/rubble/scenic base to get the height right if that s a concern. the legs on the original look way too long and ou of proportion to me...

Have you considered a Sentinel combined with Killa Kan or Deff dread arms?

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.
