Well, had my first game with my SW derivative Chapter, the Oath Brothers of the White Wolf, 750pts against a Dark Eldar army owned by one of the Aberdeen GW staff.

Why only 750pts? Because that's all I have built so far!

He went for an experimental list, using a couple of 3 man Kabalite Trueborn units each with 2 x Darklance; a Ravager; a Raider with his Haemonculus and Wracks, 6 x Reavers and a unit of Kabalite Warriors.

I ran with Rune Priest in Terminator Armour, 5 x Long Fang (2 x Missile Launchers, 2 x Multi-melta) with Razorback (lascannon & t/l Plasma guns); 6 x Grey Hunter, power fist, wolf standard, meltagun, Razorback with Heavy Bolters; 6 x Grey Hunters, wolf standard, meltagun and Wolf Guard with combi-melta and wolf claw; Lone Wolf with thunderhammer and storm shield.

The DE got first move and managed to kill both my Rune Priest and Lone Wolf with his Kabalite Trueborn Dark Lances! My dice rolls were to be a source to frustration throughout the game!!!

My Long Fangs fired two krak missiles at his reaver with no effect whatsoever... The lascannon also appeared to need some firing range practice!

Move two saw his reavers flyover my Grey Hunter unit, killing 3 of them. His Raider managed to immobilise my Grey Hunter’s Razorback.

My response saw the Long Fangs miss his Ravager although fortunately the lascannon earned it’s keep and destroyed it. The Grey Hunter’s Razorback tried it’s heavy bolters against the Raider, no effect.

My dismounted Grey Hunters then charged his Reavers, killing one.

Move 3
The Raider disembarked it’s load of Wracks and Haemonculus before shooting my Razorback again, this time disabling it’s bolters.
Changing to frag missiles, my Long Fangs finally got some results, killing 3 of the Kabalite Trueborn.

Combat from his Reaver against my Grey Hunters killed 4 of them while my retaliation got 2 Reavers.
The Wracks and Haemonculus saw off 4 of my Grey Hunters (told you the dice were against me) while I failed to hit anything!

Move 4 saw my last 2 Grey Hunters succumb to the Reavers although the Wolf Guard managed to kill 3 Reavers.
The unit of Grey Hunters facing the Wracks and Haemonculus joined their comrades in Valhalla, killing one solitary Wrack...

Next move saw the remaining Reaver break while my Wolf Guard died at the hands of the Dark Lances.

The end of the game saw only my Long Fangs surviving and the Dark Eldar in control of 3 of the five objectives on the board.

Not the most successful start to my 40k career. (

Looking forward to the next game, hopefully with a better performance from the Wolves.

Did you have fun? If so, then it was a very successful game :-)

Dice rolls are always a frustration though as Shep says, any game that is decided strictly by the dice rolls is a good one because it meant the game was close enough that either player had a chance to win.

There is a secret song at the center of the universe and its sound is like razors through flesh.
