Title pretty much says it all.

Ideas from breakdown models with magnets to the best way to store them whole?

Cheers

I magnetized the base and the chassis, so I break that apart when I transport them.

They just travel in a guncase with egg-foam just like the tanks otherwise. Never had a problem.

I'm not like them, but I can pretend.

Stick your hand out your car window and hold it above your roof while you drive. It's certainly aerodynamic enough.

I have to walk to my FLGS and my valk requires its own box. I love the model, but hot damn is it hard to get from point A to point B.

Leave the wings and stand unglued, then you can fit the model diagonally into one of the battleforce boxes. Fit the wings and stand in the voids and fill with packing (I use packing peanuts). Also, there is room for a couple of chimeras in the voids too.

One thing to note, be careful to pack around the front antenna or it may snap off if force can be applied to it.

Don't glue the wings on. And then buy one of these:

Best £17.50 I ever spent.

Right - Awesome.

How is the best way to go about surgically un-glueing a plastic model?

I don't glue the wings... and I'll find it tonight and upload it, but I have a different custom battle foam tray layout that will also hold the flying stand (though part of it will sit under the tail).

Holds two Valks with stands!

I only use very small amounts of glue in case I need to alter things. Other than that, try working it out of the joint slowly, hopefully cracking the glue not the plastic? Be careful though, and if you used a lot of glue it won't work.

El Cheezus also magnetized his. They break down into a piece of foam seriously like the size of a chimera. I'd send him a PM.

I didn't glue the wings or stand in place.

the wings were modified an magnets (5mmx2mm, in two pairs on each wing). Needed to mod the wing roots and the tail booms for this.

The magnets are strong enough to hold against even moderate shaking (and are epoxied in place).

The two of them fit into a postage mailing box with my three IG (counts-as) Leman Russes (Pig Iron Ironside hulls with scratchbuilt turrets and sponsons) and three chimeras.
The same size box holds 7 drop pods.

If you glued them with superglue try putting it in the freezer for a while. When it's out give the wing a good tap and the brittleness of the glue should then snap and allow the wing to release. Not so good for cement though as that seems to melt/bond the plastic.

Battlefoam makes a nice tray for completely assembled Valks, although I used one of those and a tray for two unassambled birds.

From KR cases here. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230594463955&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

It was pretty damn expensive, but when I think of the money and time I have put into my army so far, and how I would cry if they all got broken, it's not TOO bad.
