So my hawks came in from reserve deepstriked into a building and I rolled a 6 which put them back in reserve , my question is does the grenade pack come in because it says any time the unit would use deepstike place the blast ...

Yes, the grenade pack would be used RAW.


you might check the FAQ though.

That is their whole function to deliver that pack. So they rolled a mishap? I would say yes, it says anytime they use their Deep Strike ability. They used it, it just failed. The FAQ is silent on this.

Rules: They still are Deep Striking. They just didn't safely land. Thus the pack goes off.

Fluff: Same thing. They drop the grenades on the way down; in this case they didn't quite make a safe landing, but they still dropped their grenades.

This is correct the grenade pack goes off for simply attempting the deepstrike.

Btw if you are able to set a model on top of that building you do realize that isn't a mishap right? A jump pack model can land on impassible terrain they just treat it as dangerous terrain. This can sometimes be worse though when the only thing that dies is the damn Exarch ><

Well i ended up scattering like 9 inches over into a wall lol Im still learning rules . Im not familar with all the rules on impassible / dangerous terrain..

it's actually surprising what terrain you can actually drop into.

all terrain is ok, except for Impassable which causes a Mishap.

Yes, you can still deep strike into ruins and terrain and such - just not into impassable terrain (thus if you have deep striking units, talk about what is impassable before the start of the game).

On a side note, I scattered into some ruins last night with five deep striking terminators and three of them rolled 1's = three dead terminators. Hooray!
