Thinking of Joining a Davinite Loge

Somewhere in the dark...

This is not a thread for saying how much you don't like something or how overpowered or cheesy it is. Or how you hate Mat Ward.

I saw the new Codex today and I'm sure many of you have by now too. So, what are you thinking looks like the best/most interesting/most fun etc unit or combination of units in the new codex?

For me, I'd have to say Interceptor squads with daemon hammers. They CAN move like jump infantry, plus they have a once per battle 30" inch move. These guys will be able to get into CC really fast and almost anywhere on the table within just two turns. they'll be able to tear up vehicles and troops alike. They'll also be great for objective grabbing. Don't want thunder hammers - you can take any of the other nemesis weapons, I quite like the look of the falchions for +1 attack giving them three on the charge!

Interceptors with falchions should be hilarious. Melee death from the opposite end of the table.

The new assassin stuff looks great too. So happy to see the Vinidicare getting a massive boost. Eversor seems to be pretty unappreciated when it comes to boosts, even if I do lament his loss of Bio-meltdown.

I like the new Retinue/Henchmen system too.

I like the idea of Terminators as troops without the use of a special character.

And quick question. Will all grey knights have power weapons? Even the basic strike squad?

Honestly, based on what I've read, (I haven't looked at the codex yet,) the thing that intrigues me the most is that I feel like there are several ways to play the army. Lots of shooty, plenty of ways to beat face in assault, loooooooots of wargear options, etc.

Also, the dreadknight. Haters gonna hate, I will take my terminator baby carrier all day.

ALL grey knights have power weapons! Force weapons actually! Even the warding stave is a force weapon. It says in the codex that all 'Nemesis' weapons are force weapons.

As someone who is slowly collecting a (so far) unpainted and untouched Inquisitor contingent to field with my IG army, I'm very interested to see what's changed from the old daemonhunters codex with respect to fielding them as part of an allied force.

I also am going with Interceptors, but for the opposite reason.

I like the idea of powerful shooting Jump Infantry. I'm infatuated with Warp Spiders, these guys are sort of in that vein.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Everything seems to be pointing to allies being no more. I share your pain. I designed my Imperial Guard army around a sizeable Inquisitor contingent (both fluff and army list/model purchases-wise) and am now having to totally revamp. At least I can still use the Inquisitorial Storm Trooper models in my IG army, and am using Straken's rules for a counts-as Inquisitor who is actually tougher and more dangerous than what the new Inquisitors look like from the leaked codex (no more buffing with retinues, so you's stuck with the basic statline, it seems :() Although the almost limitless options for henchmen (at least according to the alleged draft codex circulated on the 'net) may provide some interesting options for trying to craft a quasi-inducted guard-like force although without the armour .. but with the flying and crawling land raiders.

What they seem to be doing with Inquisitors is not buffing their stats, but rather just making them hugely flexible. They can choose just about any available weapon.

Paladins. I have a thing for customizable rediculously elite units.

Inquisitors and Grand Masters as well. Once again, extremely customizable always gets brownie points from me. I can't wait to bring out all the Inquisitors I've converted again.

Everything else I don't really care about. I hate PAGK (I'll field 10 to get some cheap troops in, but after that, I don't care) and the Dreadknight looks horrendous.

I cant believe everyone is loving falchions so much 0_0

I am probably going to give most of my men halberds. Ill still have the odd DH and set of falchions here and there, but ini 6 means your going to beat down most units before they touch you. Str 5 ini 6 power weapons is a force to be reckoned with.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
But just in case I will have some str 10 daemonhammers in each squad, at least one, to deal with those pesky monoliths.

I was actually planning to give as many halberds as I could.

As you say, S5, I6, 3+ armour is going to HURT.

Plus nemesis halberds look awesome

Maybe I will play seperate squads, each with seperate weapon choices, and see which one outperforms the other after a few games vs. SW & Guard & DA...

Other Dreadnaughts should just go somewhere and be a toaster.

Mattieu~~~~ It's not that eldar are bad, it's that they require a lot of intergration between units. Also, that doesnt prove anything other than GW has a huge hard-on for marines, and, given the option between making a xeno the best psykers or making a marine the best psyker, they will 9 times out of 10 choose the marine.

And also, about the plastics cheaper than metals, thise kits look pretty damn good, look more quite a bit more detailed than your average troops, elites, and even some HQ's, with LOADS of parts, you can make 4 different squads from the components. Sounds good to me.

I've heard alot of conversion ideas based around the dreadknight, and hope to see some really creative stuff.
