The local game shop is hosting an Adepticon style tournament next weekend. Im still fairly new to 40k and as there is an enternce fee, I figured I should probobly ask, what is Adepticon Style?

Only the organizer at the shop can tell you exactly what HE means by "Adepticon style". Adepticon has a dozen or more different tournaments happening at it.

If you know what points size and game system they're doing, you can check out the event rules (and sometimes missions) for any of Adepticon's events here:

I'm going to GUESS that the most likely possibility is that he's going to run a 40k Championship-style event, which would mean this rules packet:
