hey everyone, playing my first game sunday! Were going to do a 3 player free for all battle on my newly built 5x6 table. We decided to keep it simple at a 500 hundred point battle with a mandatory troop choice and HQ. Think this is simple enough for a first game? We were thinking about using one vehicle each but again, were all newbs so I figured I would ask you all...
And yes my Orks will win... nuff said

Well, a legal game is One HQ and Two troops choices, however, in a low point battle, I guess it is acceptable. Will you be in public? I.E. A local game store? And we all know your orksies will win, Greenz is da best!

Mattieu~~~~ It's not that eldar are bad, it's that they require a lot of intergration between units. Also, that doesnt prove anything other than GW has a huge hard-on for marines, and, given the option between making a xeno the best psykers or making a marine the best psyker, they will 9 times out of 10 choose the marine.

oops, yea sorry this is in my own basement with my brother and cousin relaxed atmosphere, beer, and really just a chance to grasp the rules...
We decided to keep it at that one one ratio because we wanted to have points to experiment in other footsloggin units lol no pun intended, well maybe a little...
And we wanted to make a max size board to increase flanking and manuverability, I had originally a 6x8 table but it was tough to reach the middle...
and 4x8 while it had length we felt it lacked width... so we went with the 5x6

Well, I was going to recommend having a WH40k Veteran to walk you through your first 2 turns, but as long as you can follow turn order well, you guys will have yourself a ball. Just remember that there are charts in the back of the rulebook to determine your rolls to hit and wound, you can use it as a quick reference when you play your game. Please post a battle report after you guys are done, so we can see how well da green uns smashed da 'umies. (And to point out any mistakes) And intented puns are punny, that is all...

Uh... well I'm going to probably run My warboss with nobz separate wargear for wound allocation and a painboy, a unit of 20-30 shoootas with rocket launchers and a big mek. Then some kommandos with a flamer and rocket launcher (my own converted one looks kinda kool) and some storm boyz- I have 20 of them but I don't know what I could get away with pointwise.
Oh I also have 5 Lootas and a unit of grots (27 or 8 I think) which will come along for the ride.
Again, this is based mostly on what I have built. I think lootas are a must as they seem to always be in everyone's list.
And again not trying to build a super competitive list at this point, but I do want to slap some "umies" up so I guess that's sort of hypocritical of me to say so...
What do you think Footsloggin??

I personally do not have coverage in the area of Orks, what I do know is that lootas and battlewagons are very good choices. However, I do recommend posting your list or models available to you in the 40k army list section, titled: Help with an Ork list, or something along those lines...

I really wouldn't recommend a 3-player game for your first one (it's not even a part of the rules), but good luck!

Actually, that's pretty much exactly how my first game was run. 3 players, all brand spanking new, 500pts. per side. It was... ugly. That's not to say we didn't learn a decent bit about play and have a blast, just that the game doesn't work all that well when played this way. Having a veteran to coach on rules and having a smaller table with terrain and deployment balanced to 3 players will make things run much more smoothly, but there's definitely something to be said for saying "screw it" and getting stuck in.

I suggest a series of normal 1-on-1 games to begin with, then end it with a three-way bash.
