I've been wondering, does Cadia, or the Cadian System, have a sun? One would think so, and if it does, does anyone happen to know it's name? I'd like to know for the name of one of my tanks. Thanks in advance!

It undoubtedly does.
It (Cadia) is referenced to be one planet in it's system, so I would presume that it and the rest orbit around their primary.

What stellar class it is though, is unknown (nor how far out Cadia is from it).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

Cadia has a Sun, no other reference where given. And Cadia is not near the border of the warp, but 1-2 light years from it. If you see this:

http://www.joachim-adomeit.de/wh40k/spacemap/map.html

You will notice that Cadia is standing at the very exit from the eye. So Cadian entire system is surrounded by the warp. Cadia is nit just one planet, but entire solar system. And well protected I might add.

One thing I have never understood is why Abbadon doesn't just fly right past it while in warp travel...... seems logical to avoid the planet you continuously get butchered at.

I would imagine it being the Cadian system that the star is also called 'Cadia'. Several systems are simply named after their satrs. Failing that, as this is an unexploed piece of fluff, I propose Icarus. As it is far too close to the EoT for comfort.

Because Chaos is all about : BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!! SCULLS FOR THE SCULL THRONE!!!! and that sort of thing. They only look upon plundering and butchering, no matter the planet. And now that you say this... I think it's because Chaos followers may also have difficulties in flying trough the warp. And Cadian passage is the only passage with stable path. And it may be that those stones on Cadia that allows the safe passage from and into the eye may disrupting warp travel in the system?

While he has avoided the planet in previous Black Crusades, the problem with taking such an action is that he can only use the provisions he has on him and can loot. The further away from the Eye of Terror he gets, the less the daemons he can field. His supply lines would be either amazingly vulnerable or non-existent, and if he fails to make it to Terra (which he would not be able to do) he would be unable to return to the refuge of the Eye of Terror. As such, I believe that it's likely that if he took such an action to strike deeper into the Imperium, there's a good chance his force could be cut off and destroyed. Nearby systems have already been ravaged by Abaddon, but I doubt he could inflict a great deal of damage on the Imperium as a whole without taking Cadia.

the Major issue is that while Single ships and Small Groups of Ships can travel through warpspace into/out of the Eye; a large Fleet(such as any Black Crusade Fleet) Would have to come through the gate.

Even small groups are known to expect the loss of a ship or 2 when attempting travel into the maelstrom not through the Eye.

The warp Suffers from Time Dilation; and fickle eddies&Flows; it is attempts to traverse without the Eye that more often leads to lost ships and Temporally displaced ships(Ships arriving 1,000 years after scheduled; or even arriving before they left)

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

If the planet of Cadia goes orbits its sun, will there be a point where it isn't facing the Eye? can Chaos not just attack then? Or is there some huge space garrison outside the Eye?

How about this campaign dex from 2003?

Page 24/25 maps of the battlezone around the eye of terror.

Cadia system:

1. Sun. ( unnnamed )
2. Prosan, death world ( training grounds )
3. Korolis, ( production of promethium, etc )
4. Kasr Sonna , fortress world
5. Cadia, main fortress world
6. Kasr Holn, fortress world
7. Macharia, hiveworld
8. Vigilatum, ( space fleet training grounds )
9. Kasr partox, fortress world
10. St.Josmanes hope, ( military prison )
11. Solar Mariatus ( source of war materials )

Cadia itself:

- Orb dist. 1.32 AE
- 1.12 G / 20°
- fortress/garrison world
- tribute = non
- class A3
- pop 250.000.000
- mob.level 71,75%

There are also other systems of the campaign, Belial IV, Belis corona, Agripinaa, Thracian primaris, chinchare, hydra cordatus, but were interested just in cadia..

Presence of space fleets:

Cadian fleet:
- 12 battleships
- 12 cruiser squadrons
- 21 escort squadrons

Corona fleet: ( located close to cadia )
- 7 battleships
- 13 cruiser squadrons
- 17 escort squadrons

Scarus fleet: ( far away but guarding the backdoor of the EoT )
- 5 battleships
- 9 cruiser squadrons
- 13 escort squadrons

So its not that easy to "fly by" unharmed, even when Abby had nearly the same fleet size at his disposal.

thanks a lot! It is disappointing, however that the sun doesn't have a name, oh well

This is a very good explanation, thank you. However Abaddon is quite the big shot when it comes to chaos. If he were to skip cadia and strike somewhere else and be destroyed due to what you stated above; he would be reborn anyways. MAybe even get lucky and claim a planet or two? Then he could have a whole new base of operations.
