If you like Warcrafts gameplay but sick of all the static worlds and rather out-dated graphics then i would say go for it.

While normally a nerd when it comes to these sorta games, im takin it nice and slow, even though i have 3 characters, only one of which is over lvl 20. XD

When the rich rage war it's the poor who die

Armies I have: Chaos Space Marines, Tau, Necrons, High Elves

Armies I want:Lizardmen, Warriors Of Chaos, Dark Eldar

Armies I may get: Dark Angels, Tomb Kings, Vampire Counts

I was really impressed with what warhammer online did with zone quest events that did not require LFG (too bad the rest was like a crappier version of WoW) and saw that Rift had something similar. I think i'm going to check out. Thanks for the reply.

I would love to prove you wrong on War, but I won't derail the thread.

Rift is alright. Its basically Guild Wars and WoW combined, with a bit of Aion involved in some aspects.

To be fair, Rift holds a spot in my heart purely on the following reason, but 1st a lil back ground info on other MMORPGs:

Runescape - Played a Mellee based Character
Perfect World Internation - Played a Blademaster(another Mellee class)
World Of Warcraft - Played a Paladin(Mellee Character)

So when Rift beta hit i do as always, go a mellee character do pretty well but decide to try a mage class as well, done gd as well but not as gd as the mellee guy.

When servers became live fully, 1st thing i done was create a Mage :O, so that purely why im lovin Rift atm.
(Think that may be due to playing a Mage solid for my last few months on Wow till i quit coz all my mates quit).

All i can say is i love my Necromancer, nothing beats summoning skeletons to do my biding .

There's some decent coverage of the game on the Yogscast.

You'll have to look through the upload list in order to find the Rift videos, as I'm too lazy to link them directly.

He didn't say that WAR was a perfect game, just that he really liked the idea of public quests. Others must have to becuase other games have implemented the idea. Even a broken game can have good ideas.

I played through the Beta, and did post some of my early thoughts in a thread further into this forum.

Summarising, I generally felt it was a re-do of World of Warcraft by the end of the beta, with some variety in the system but not really enough to differentiate it from WoW for one who has played through all that WoW had to offer at the time. The public quest (Rifts) were rather well done (Although I thought they were done better in WAR), and the variety a single class could offer was also quite nice.

After that, it seemed to run into a new version of WoW, but YMMV.

Indeed, I think all MMO's could have a touch of Scenario's and a sprinkling of Public Quests.

I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.

Haven't played it, but I can say I don't like their marketing... "You're not in Azeroth anymore" or whatever ... can't their product just stand on it's own? It's like Privateer Press advertising Warmachine by saying "40K is stupid, play our game instead"

I would be hoping for something different than WoW. I played that faithly since Beta to Cataclysm and feel that i have indeed takin most from that experience. I love that game but now the experience feels too watered down and redundant. I hope for something more than the tried and true formula of 'get your quest, get your party, zone in, defeat mob(s) turn in quest, rinse and repeat 1,000,000 times

I got in to WAR in hopes i would find a new twist on the MMO genre and i had high expectations for a warhammer fantasy game, i think a lot of that went into my disappointment and to be fair I only played that a short period and didnt max out any toons level or get into any end game content, just kinda lost interest quickly...and isnt that the point of it all?

Once I get it i'll be sure to let you know my opinion if you are so inclined to care
