I didn't see this posted, but thought I'd drop word about this old school favorite of mine.

Back in the day someone, I think it was Alpha Forge, had this game. NOW it's in the hands of Megaminis.

They arn't the prettiest, but they are pretty good for those on a budget, AND you have the added bonus of being able to pull out ANY minis you want to and set yourself up any race of alien you can come up with.

I really like some of the stuff these guys have pulled out. They blow alot of thier older... uh... less visually stunning, models that they make along side the other lines of figures they are known for.

Best thing about them is that the game is free. The rules are the same, and they are making minis. I just downlaoded the rules today, but they are already an old school favorite. Again, you can use any figs out there you can find, er... hire.

That not Serenity Crew from Herasy, those guys from Chronoscape, from reaper, that line of figs from Blue moon.... etc.etc.etc....

Theres plenty of good stuff that you can do with it too, You like gorkamorka? Necromunda? You'll like this one.

Start with a crew or two and go from there. Cheap, easy, and going places. I for one am glad they brought this back out of the woodwork.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

The Deadtech guys are really cool. Currently, horribly broke. But I've been compiling a list of mini sites I want to visit once I get a job, again. And I want some of those DeadTech Skeletons. They're really goofy and cool. That Skaven-Esque/Ratmen with trench coats/heavy weapons is also awesome.

Thank you sir.

These are the tales of the Skeleton Warriors....

Mega-Minis made this announcement on 15th October 2010 (which I also missed). Some nice Xenos (Vespid alternatives) and AdMech/Miner stuff including female Power armour soldiers.
Mega Miniatures at www.megaminis.com is pleased to announce the acquisition of Alpha Forge Games Star Mogul and supporting miniatures line. This collection includes roughly 100 metal figures and vehicles designed by Rod Tyson.

President Johnny Lauck will begin casting and inputting products into the Mega Miniatures eBay and traditional online stores beginning October 16th through October 20th.

The rules books will become free downloads, with new artwork, scenarios, and battle reports. A rough estimate of the re-release schedule is as follows…

The Dusk-Wraiths of Szith Morcane (my Dark Eldar blog): http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/364786.page

The minis a very nice, actually.

I have about a ten or twelve minis from the Hydrissian range and use them as proxy for my Tau Empire army.

They might need some minor converting (i.e. rifles), though, if one insists on WYSIWYG.

I recently purchased a group of the salvage crew and reviewed them here. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/352909.page Good quality figs, that fit in well with Necromunda, EM4 and other figure lines.

As for MegaMinis, the're site is a bit confusing regarding the origin of their sci-fi figs. They have:
-Former ALphaforge "Star Mogul" figs. Asteroid miners, Salvage crew, Hydrissians, Mephalians.
-Former Demonblade "shockforce" figs. Not all released (more every month or so), but Demonblade is the origin of the Shockforce troopers, goblins, zombies (not all of them), Deadtech, goth rats.
-Quite a few other figs they they have bought or had comissioned, many of which are the smaller 25mm size.

Further complicating this is that many of the lines have been renamed, and figs from various origins have been mixed in various subheadings.

Regardless, with the acquisition of Alphaforge and Demoblade figs, Mega has become a great source for good, but inexpensive, 28mm figs, many with uses in GW games.

I'm particularly interested to see their future rereleases of the Shockforce megacorp troopers (now called "Frontier defense" http://freeboardgamesnow.com/sciencefictionfrontierdefenseforce.aspx) as they are perfect Cadian proxies and the unreleased portion of the line has figs that work great for officers, heavy weaopns, special weaopons, commisars and a sentinels.

Ha! I hadn't thought of that. I just thought of them as lasguns that had been tweaked just enough to be not copyright infringing, but they really do look like Necro autoguns.

At a game store auction two weeks a friend of mine just picked up the shockforce force not-techpriest and a Trooper autocannon team (kind of an autocannon meets heavy stubber on a cart). A few cool couple of models that I really hope Mega re-releases.
