I've been playing 40k for a while, and as the title states, I have two simple questions. I've been unable to find any explanation on Strength D, or range G48". Any help is appreciated.

Strength D is an Apocalypse strength Weapon, it is also an auto penetration, if I remember right. Check the Apoc rulebook and it will tell you exactly.
G48" is from 4th edition, it is now a Barrage weapon with a 48" range.

"G" is short for "guess" which now indicates the weapon is a barrage weapon. (you used to have to guess the range in addition to rolling scatter)
"D" is short for "Destroyer" a particularly lethal anti vehicular title.

G is an older thing from previous editions, and the 5th ed. BRB says you should treat any G weapons as barrage.
Strength D weapons are Apocalypse only. Any vehicle struck by a D weapon, or caught under a D template is autopenned (with +1 on the damage roll) and any non-vehicle models suffer instant death with no cover saves allowed.

"G" is from 3rd edition, actually, when you DID try to "guess" the range.
