After seeing the GK codex I'm kind of underwhelmed. I think it's a good codex, but it seems like an all Terminator/Dreadknight army will get so badly hemorrhaged in even casual play, that it's not worth building the army. My plan was to make a terminator heavy army, but it seems like that plan is for naught now.

I really like the Dreadknight model and I'm wondering what people think of using it as a plain Dreadnought in a marine army, or as tanks in an IG army. This is assuming it was mounted on the proper base size, etc...

Thanks.

Nothing?
Seriously, it is nothing like anything else. Only thing you may be able to pass it off as is a Defiler.

I know there is some kind of mini titan called a Knight something but I'm not sure how big it is compared to a Dreadknight in fluff. I'm not really sure how any of the other marine armies could have them unless the machine was more common in the days of the HH and the GK are just the only chapter that still has them. So if you did a HH era army then maybe you could have some but I'm not sure on their fluff so don't quote me on that.

It would be cool though to see versions of it for other chapters, like one in Imperial Fists colors defending the Imperial Palace against the traitor marines.

It would make a pretty cool Master of the Forge conversion with a bit of tweaking.

It would count as *gasp* a Dreadknight. It's too big for a dreadnought, and too small to be a knight paladin.

You can't have a dreadknight in a vanilla marines army.

I would count it as a dreadnought myself, it may block LoS for things behind it but it is a bigger target itself.

I find that it's a more appropriate visual representation of Mephiston's stat line.

I'm sorry. Nothing with T6 or higher should be on anything less than a 40mm base.

Nothing. Maybe a trygon. Or old one eye.

Nothing else is that big. Shorten it's legs, throw it on a 60mm base and call it a dreadnought

I'm going to count it as a defiler in my chaos marines army. Probs gonna give it 4 arms, 2 of which holding a big cannon.

But for vanilla marines, face it, there's nothing it could count as.

Chaos Space Marines, The Skull Guard: 4500pts
Fists of Dorn: 1500pts

Ork allies, then The Bloodaxes are prone to that kind of thing.

Fitting it into a Marine army as-is would be ridiculous, as it doesn't have the right size/silouette for anything in the lists.

It's too big for any kind of dreadnought, and too small for any kind of titan. I'm sure eventually ALL chapters will be retconned to have them, but at present i don't think it would work with any unit.

In the Guard you could run it as a really big variant sentinel (they are a bit taller than dreads i think), but I can't think of anything else in the Guard list that would fit.

Well I would put it on a Dreadnought base which is 60mm or if I made it a tank, it would be on a square base the same size as the tank I was counting it as (either Leman Russ size or Chimera Size).

I've seen a lot of people beef up their dreadnoughts to the point that they were 4-6" tall. Not sure why this idea is meeting with such resistance.

I want to see it as a Stormraven. It could even do a superman pose while dragging 10 marines on baby straps and a dreadnought on it's back.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

It'd be a hell of a MotF on bike w/Conversion Beamer.

I'm not going to go into my opinion on the model, but I will say this:

Dreadknights will do fine in competetive play. Keep them cheap (under 200 points) and use them as fire magnets.

Or give them teleporters, bringing them to 200 points, and scout-shunt into a first-turn assault.

I'm thinking of giving the Dreadknight a weapon swap for a lasgun and counting them as Imperial Guard. I figure once GW finds out I'll need about 130 of them they'll write a FAQ allowing me to do this.
