Skaven! Skaven! Skaven! Here goes...

Warlock Engineer w/ doom rocket (45)

Cheif w/ BsB, shield, baner of the under empire (107)

35 Clanrats w/ shields, full command, poison mortar (242,5)

35 Clanrats w/ shields, spears, full command, poison mortar (260)

6 Gutter Runners w/ poisoned slings (106)

Doomwheel (150)

Warplightning Cannon (90)

Total: 1000,5

Tactics: Clan rats form main line, doomwheel flank, gutters hunt WMs, WLC kill stuff. I'm over half a point, what to drop? Any thoughts?

Spears would be the first thing I'd suggest. The parry save is, IMO, more important for keeping Clan Rats alive than the extra attacks from spears.

My biggest concern I guess is that a (practically) naked Warlock Engineer is going to be your general.

Im using two IoB sets of clanrats so i just took what they had, shouldn't be that hard though to give them hand weapons.

About my general, well, i wanted to include a engineer because i have a lot of skyre stuff. I dont really want any magic in this list either so he ended up pretty naked. Suppose i could give him something to keep him alive but there's no point really when he costs 15pts...

Its 108 pts for 6 gutter runners with poisoned slings... so you are probably 2.5 pts over.

I would keep the spears, just to keep the models WYSIWYG Unless you have other handweapon clanrats.

Both will serve you fine im sure. (I agree that hand weapon + shield is optimal for clan rats though)

For losing the 2.5 points just drop a single clanrat.

I would swap the Banner of the under empire for protection of your BSB. (I think the optimal BSB build for me is: Talisman of preservation (45) and Charmed Shield (5). But then you would need to drop more rats....

So maybe just drop 1 clanrat and keep the list as it is. And try it out!

I've got the same thing (along with some battalion boxes), so I usually just run the 20 in front with hand weapons then put the dudes with spears in the back most ranks. Since they are removed first, it's usually not a huge deal.

And I can see not giving a 15 pt model a whole lot, but keep in mind when he dies he's worth an extra 100vp to the enemy for being your general.

Well, if i give him a whole lot then he's worth even more. xD

My plan is to just fire the doom rocket and then have him hide in a most skaven fasion!

Well if you are playing someone smart they won't challenge and just have their rank and file direct attacks at him and it will not take much to take down WS3 T3 W2.

My personal advice is drop a mortar for a 2nd chief or try and shave some points for a warlord or plague priest

Thx for your comments!

Well, what i meant with hide in a skaven fashion i meant to fire rocket and then stand behind the unit beside the poison mortar. The minimum avarage range of the doom rocket is 22" so i should pull it off...

A warlord is worth thinking about though.

Ok cool that should work just pray he doesn't get shot at. I've yet to try out my skaven army, I'm still assembling, but I would think the best range to shoot the doom rocket would you want the center of the big template to be at 14 inches. Why? 4 dice is the minimum, the average is 3s and 4s so 2 of each. You don't want more dice then 4 as it increases the chance of 3 or more "1"s which would result in a misfire and it adds more variance to the range which could result in falling short or overshooting your target. Just what I am viewing on paper I could be wrong. Being able to get access to the skitterleap spell would be awesome with this weapon as it would let the warlock jump to the enemy flank and shoot down the line like this:

Ooops, i thought the min amount of dice you could use was 6, not 4.

I think im gonna have to do some play testing before i say anything else...
