I wish to build an appropriately ornate chimera for my Inquisitor to ride around in, and am therefore seeking suggestions on bitz to use and colours.

My inquisitor is currently the Forgeworld Hector Rex model in all gold armour, although he will likely be replaced by a converted Coteaz since with the new GK codex soon out, I am switching to using Straken's rules. So, just to give you an idea, my inquisitor is more of the ostentatious, directly attacking the heretic type of inquisitor rather than the more subtle type. The Storm Troopers are Kasrkin models with classic dark red uniforms and black armour with gold hotshot lasguns. The retinue (company command squad) uses two Vostroyan officers as bodyguards, and as troopers with flamers the Witch hunter acolyte with flamers for arms, and the one with a brazier of holy flame, with Hector Rex's acolyte with the =I= staff as a standard bearer and a Kasrkin for the final flamer troop. Just to give you all an idea of the look and feel of my inquisitor so you can better make suggestions.

I think an entirely gold chimera would be over the top, and was therefore thinking of one that's black with lots of shiny gold bits and things on it (unless others have different ideas). Ideas of bitz to use?

Forgeworld doesn't sell their =I= back hatch anymore, so I thought of putting a Rhino =I= door over the smaller hatch on the back. It's just slightly bigger so it should work.

I was looking at these: http://www.sciborminiatures.com/en_,shop.php?art=883 from Scribor along the side of the Chimera (on the top raised area) and by using a measuring tape it seems like it would fit. Has anyone used Scribor conversion bits on vehicles? How do they size up? I like this , too, but based on the measurements it's too huge to use anywhere on a chimera.

Other ideas? Many thanks in advance.

For my inquisitorial chimera, I built a small extension on top of the turret place. I also added an assault ramp on the front that was made from the top hatch parts from a rhino.

Okay, I've been on a bit of a hiatus 2011-14

The Forgeworld Inquisitor conversion kits for Chimeras crop up on auction sites from time to time.

This is the only picture I could find: http://www.fast-autos.net/diecast-cars-models/Forgeworld-INQUISITION-CHIMERA-DOOR-AND-SYMBOL_170573884402.html

That's an interesting idea for sure ... but on the other hand, wouldn't a Puritan Inquisitor (which mine is) want to keep his vehicle free from any taint of the warp and pristine and pure itself? Or would keeping a trophy not interfere with that? Although I would probably use the penitent witch model instead since my inquisitor is Ordo Hereticus.

I can't help too much with paint scheme, but I made PBS from one of those Empire Flagelant Box sets and that came with heaps of religious icons that I used to cover up the custom chimera I made too. I'd recommend grabbing it for conversions. It's even got ragged flags and chain sets that you can use...

Can't claim that idea as my own though...I copied someone else on Dakka!

In fact, I'm going to rip off that Daemonhost idea too!

On the old GW website from many years ago there were conversion tutorials on how to make Inquisitorial vehicles, one of which was a chimera. Basically trace the Inquisitorial =I= on pieces of plasticard and layer them up on the back of the hull and glue the stuff from the Immolator (like the laud hailer) onto the sides of the vehicle.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.
