I'm surprised I couldn't find this, but it didn't come up in the search, so here goes...

What size marker is a Necron particle whip? I for the longest time had thought it was large blast, and yet in the weapon's stats it is "Ord. 1/Blast" which seems to indicate it has Ordnance damage stats with a regular blast marker. I'm referring to Ordnance's rules stating that the marker size is large blast unless specified otherwise.

The rule that you mention means that all Ordnance Blast weapons use the large blast unless their rules specifically state otherwise.

So the Particle Whip uses the large blast marker, because the rules for it don't specifically state to use the small one.

Right. Yet since small blast is technically "Blast" ... I kind of figured that was the specific statement required in the weapon type. Or does it need to be even more specific, I.E., stating in special rules, "Use a regular blast marker"?

Yup, it actually needs to tell you specifically to use the small marker.

What the Ordnance rule is telling you is that in contrast to normal Blast weapons, when an Ordnance weapon says 'Blast' in its profile, it means 'Large Blast'...

On the armory page, bottom left, it says Ordnance template. That settles that there then.

Ordnance Blast is ALWAYS large blast - like Insaniak said.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

The confusion stems from the fact that the Necron codex is frottin' ancient. I think it's the oldest current codex these days (about 10 years old) and terminology has changed in places, or been clarified.

Its the big blast, as the above posts have said

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts
