So, I have this idea for a fighty, fluffy, yet powerful Tzeentch lord that I want to try out and wanted some feedback.

Lord, Barded Chaos Steed, MoT, Shield, Talisman of Preservation, Helm of Many Eyes, Rending Sword.

5 attacks, strikes first and rerolls to hit rolls against the vast majority of models, S5 with rerolls to wound (resulting in equal or higher average inflicted wounds against most things than many Khorne lords), 1+ armor, 3+ Ward save, and able to hide in Cavalry units from Cannons unlike a Juggerlord. However, does have Stupidity with a 1/6 chance of being Stupid every round.

Very tough and powerful, for roughly three hundred and fifty points, but stupidity makes him silly enough to not feel particularly broken or anything. I like the idea of all the Rerolls and hard to get through overlapping saves for a Tzeentch character representing the Lord of Change intervening in his minions path or the Lord divining the strands of fate or the whispers of infinity guiding his blade or some such Tzeentchiness, and sometimes losing ones mind amidst such unholy glory sounds perfectly fluffy

Thoughts on the loadout, potential changes, fluffiness, and what sort of Knight unit would best be suited to accompany him?

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

I haven't seen that particular one with the rending sword. Seems pretty decent. Keep him near the BSB, and stupidity shouldn't be an issue.

As with all big fighty characters like this, the key will be whether you can impact the game enough with him to make him worthwhile.

All those re-rolls *do* seem pretty Tzeentchy.

Well, ok that didn't really address anything but thanks...? I'm sure just about every combination of wargear has been fielded at some point and seen by *someone*.

Any sort of kit for a Knight unit to accompany him one might suggest?

When I'm playing against them, the Blasted Standard (is that the 5+ ward one?) and Mark of Tzeentch gives me the most issues, but that's from a very Dwarven perspective. It would be fairly fluffy to take the bound spell banner too, I think.

For raw brutality (and not so great fluff) Mark of Khorne is hard to beat, though. Think the champ is not all that essential, as there should be relatively few things your Lord doesn't actually want to fight. Musician is almost always a good call, though.

I prefer my:

Chaos Lord w/ MoT, Halberd, Helm of Many Eyes, Talisman of Preservation and Dragonhelm

3+ AS and 3+ ward, 5 S6 ASF attacks. Add on your barded steed and he hits a nice 332pts with a 1+ AS and 3+ ward. Whilst he lacks the re-rolls of the rending sword, he adds extra strength (which can remove the need to re-roll some wounds) and comes in at 18pts less.

He doesn't have any tzeentchy re-rolls, but you could argue that the Dragonhelm holds the spirit of a slain chaos dragon.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Right sorry.
Seen it, it own'd my poor scar vet, and proceeded to devastate the saurus unit (24+vet) within 3 combat phases at which point they got hit by doom and darkness and where swept.

My version, from my 2k list:

Chaos Lord - MoT, rending sword, talisman of preservation, helm of many eyes, shield, demonic mount = 380

Idea is to solo around, using a banner of swiftness warrior block as a launch pad (18" first march), while the rest of the infantry pound in a turn or so later. Mildly concerned about being able to break armor, but the idea is mostly to blitz infantry units with 5 rerolled S5 rerolled attaks + 2 S5 mount attaks + 1 S5 stomp. And then swiftstride too.

No functional advice though, this dude has been built and waiting for more warriors to be built and me to care enough to put my WoC on the table again
