I wanted to know what amount of movement vehicles like land raiders and a storm raven can make and still launch troops into assault. The working for the assault platform (can't remember the exact name if this is wrong) rule says they can assault when they disembark, so that means the storm raven can not move flat out and have units assault out, but how fast can it move and still allow assault?
Since the Land raider isn't fast how far can it move and still have troops assault?
I don't have regular access to my rule book and I just wanted some clarification from the community. Thanks.

In both cases the answer is: not flat out.
Flat out is 12" upwards.

sorry about the wrong forum. Thanks for the clarification Automatically Appended Next Post: So even though the storm raven can move up to 24 inches, if it moves more than 12 no one can disembark?

That is correct.
In theory, the passengers could still assault from it if they managed to disembark. But, there's no way for them to disembark after 12" of movement, so it's a moot point.

Correction: For a Stormraven you CAN disembark after moving full out with the "Skies of Blood" special rule, but it specifically states you can't assault out after doing so.

as a quick extension to this, Land Raiders have the assault rule where it states that models disembarking can assault in the same turn. From what I've read so far in this thread it would seem that all vehicles can do this dependant on the distance moved.
Is this rule therefore... useless? left over from a previous edition where rules were otherwise? I am confused by this.

Do note that Fast and Open topped vehicles have different rules for embarking/disembarking. Only fast vehicles can move flat out, other vehicles move cruising speed. If a vehicle has moved, troops may disembark but not assault, if a vehicle hasn't moved yet troops may disembark and move as normal before the vehicle moves.
If you are doing marines, in all honesty you may want to look at drop pods. They are cheap points wise and let your whole army pretty much deep strike.

In general, models can not assault after disembarking from a vehicle that has moved unless it is open topped. That's why the Land Raider's Assault Vehicle rule is helpful.

If you are using a variant with assault ramp, yes.
