Since the upcoming release of the new Grey Knights on April 2nd, I have decided to make a poll discussing the Heavy Support options for the army itself. Which you think is better or what you'd be taking in your list most often.

My mistake didnt notice the polls forum. Can someone please move it there for me? Thank you!

Not really a YMDC thread - I'd suggest tactics

For their price S8 riflemen dread that have a DAMN good chance of being scoring and ignoring stunned and shaken seem too good to be true. With DK only a 5++ save now it is less competitive - not that thats stopping me

How does the Dreadnought be a scoring unit?

Grand Strategy can affect walkers, and makes them score "as if" they were Troops.

But things with armor values can't hold objectives even if they are troops like dedicated Rhinos or Razorbacks.

Grandstrategy overrides that rule.

anyway, 3 dreds putting out 12 twin-linked Str8 shots is just nasty.

it is the end of Razorback and Chimera spam for sure.

add in 3 Vendreds with Lascannons and a tl-autocannon for even more lulz

As the venerable dreadnought is elite, I'll go with the missilecannon dreadnought. Although in a scout-shunt army list a dreadknight or two would be awesome. First-turn charging MC anyone?

Anywhere worth being

The poll should be changed, as Venerable Dreadnoughts are not Heavy Support, they are Elites, and you left off Land Raiders. Um... yeah... for all the people that do use Land Raiders...

I'm also pretty keen on the S8 Rifleman Dreadnoughts. They'll be pretty good in the current anti-mech meta.

I don;t think people should write off Purgation squads, either. They aren't nearly as gimped as Devastators, since some of their weapons have Assault profiles, which means they can actually have a little mobility. 24 psilencer shots or 12 rending psycannon shots is nothing to laugh at. Plus they can potentially be scoring. Neither Long Fangs or Devastators can say that.

Actualy, I do not think grand strategy overules that rule. It will make them scoring as if troops, but mechanised troops have not been abel to score for some while. (Deff dread, Death Company walkers, all sorts of transports etc.) The fact that a walker can be a troop is nothing new.

Personaly I am going to try 2 autocannon S8 dreadnoughts and one unit of 4x incinerator in a rhino or razorback.

Actually, the rule book states that vehicles don't get to score just by being troops. If they're made scoring somehow (Ravenwing Land Speeder comes to mind) then they can, in fact, score.

I was going to mention that myself Walrus; but then I thought that it might be a different wording in the Physical Dex vs the play-test one.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
