I'm pleased to announce the Fort Buyaki Invitational 40K Tournament to be held on October 8-9, 2011 held in Seacaucus, NJ. The FtBI is part of the 2011-2012 Games Workshop North American Tournament Circuit. All are welcome and invited to participate in this great event!

This event will feature 5 games over the course of two days and will be held at the same site as the Warstore Weekend in cooperation with TheWarStore and TheWarStore Weekend. We expect to have at least 60 players and we are able to easily expand as player demand grows.

The FtBI features Swiss-style pairings based on game play results to crown our overall champion and we offer painting and sportsmanship awards that are scored independently from game play. We expect all players to conduct themselves in a polite and civil manner and we use a ranking system to recognize outstanding sporting individuals. The great feature of the sportsmanship ranking system is that all opponents must be ranked from best to least best which creates a clear delineation between players. More about my thoughts and ramblings on sportsmanship http://fortbuyaki.blogspot.com/2011/01/tournament-sportsmanship-way-to-do-it.html

As the days pass, we'll post more information up here on Dakka, on my blog http://fortbuyaki.blogspot.com/ and the WarStore Weekend site http://thewarstoreweekend.com/

The WarStore Weekend also features plenty of great gaming action consisting of games and miniatures from a number of miniature gaming companies!

Thanks,

Jason Buyaki

Hey Jason,

This is Salamander Sean from last years warstore weekend. I will definitely be coming back, enjoyed the tournament you ran last october, and will be bringing as many of my friends as I can. Since they moved the date it doesnt conflict with my wedding anymore, and so we're using it as a bachelor bash wargaming weekend. Gotta defend my sportsmanship award and move up from my 3rd overall.

Just a thought, I know BFS is having their GT in New York the same weekend. I'm not asking you to move your date, but I think it would be beneficial to both tournaments if you try to reschedule, especially since this is your first year running (to my knowledge) and this is their second. That means people are more likly to go to their event.

Either way it's up to you and good luck!

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Mattrendar, awesome army but you may want to check if its legal for the tournament. I think you can only use GW figures in the event, but double check with big JB. I don't think anyone would have a problem with the shock trooper army, as long as you don't win

I would be very surprised if this event does not has a lot of great looking terrain.

Lets look at Jason Buyaki's resume. He used to work for a little company called games workshop running the GT's. When he stop doing that he was the Hobby & Show Manager for Games Workshop. He built all the great gaming tables that we used to see at the games days and in the WD. If my information is correct he is currently the Director of Terrain Development at Gale Force Nine. To add to that I believe he has won a golden daemon.

If i am wrong in my information please correct me. It been 3 to 4 years since I have seen him.

This is open to all but I've chosen to use invitational instead because I like the use the acronym of Ft. Buyaki Invitational as FBI. Also my opening paragraph states that all are welcome!

Jay, you sure have my number! I hope that you and Da Boyz will consider attending. It would be fantastic to see all of you again and rib Shaun of his early US GT antics!

Our terrain quality is top notch and we'll be adding plenty more this year. We had a plenty of terrain on each table last year and no complaints about lack of terrain, which many first year tournaments suffer from.

If interested, you may purchase tickets now by following this link. http://www.thewarstore.com/product62071.html The WarStore's online cart is handling all ticket sales for the FBI. Any ticket purchased by May 31st will be placed into a special prize drawing.

This sounds interesting. What are the missions like? Is this a Nova style Event?

A shame it's the same weekend as the BFS tournament. I think there will be a lot of players split between the two events - I had such a good time at BFS last year thats my priority for those dates.

The FBI prize package continues to grow at a healthy rate. As I type, we have a prize package worth over $1300 for our recognized winners and I am working on securing a number of swag bag goodies from a number of great manufacturers for each participant.

The FBI is a two day, 5 round 40K tournament featuring 2000 point armies. Players are randomly matched for the first round and in subsequent rounds are matched up swiss-style by comparing their battle scores. The highest battle score is matched up with the second highest, the third highest with the fourth, and so on. No player will ever play the same player twice.

The overall champion is the player with the highest battle score. Only game play determines our champion and we offer separate awards for painting and sportsmanship.

We have also added a Warhammer Fantasy Battle tournament to the Fort Buyaki Invitational. This tournament will be a two day, 5 round event with armies of 2400 points. More info to come soon.
