Hey all, I'm finally getting around to painting the guys I've had for ages. This is my standard HQ choice, my beloved librarian. I've done the robe and the basic armor shading. I still need to do highlights on the armor and various detail bits. But I thought I'd poll the collective wisdom of dakka for what color I should paint my force weapon. Most of my power swords have an enchanted blue base color (though one old termie captain has a red power sword). The simplest thing would be to go with a light blue sword for my libby as well. But how about another color to draw attention to the model and differentiate the force weapon?

Also, any general C&C on the paint job so far? (Keeping in mind that i still have a highlighting pass to do).

The book was originally teracotta colored, but it was too much red. So I decided to make it UM blue. I plan to paint the sword on the book white and put an ultramarine "U" around it. I'm also considering painting a blue "U" on his chest.

Red! There was a really nice looking one on here the other day. It looked sort of like obsidian but with a red shine to it. Anyone remember where the pic was located at?

Looking nice. Hrm. If you've already made other power weapons in the army light blue, I'd usually say go with that, but maybe a bit more elaborate.

Red or green could work well too, of course. I'd tend to say green, in this case, since you've got those red secondary features.

So I found this pic, which looks awesome. Perhaps I could make the sword like this...

Though I'm curious to see the pic of the red sword.

Good luck with the OSL...
Incidentally - who painted that? It's bad ass.
