Hey all im looking to try a new army having played my Necrons and Eldar into exhaustion i'd like a fresh start.
After playing mech Eldar for a while i have come to really enjoy it but it does make games very similar to each other. Not that that's a bad thing just that I'd like an army that can work without heavy reliance vehicles. That is the one thing i loved about my Necrons how they were an army that was mainly foot based and made do with only a monolith which admittedly is a very unique vehicle in the 40k universe.
So im looking at a foot oriented army, thing is that tyrandis and Orks are well represented in my local meta so i would want to shy away from them. I also face DoA a lot so i would want to steer clear of them as well.
I've not heard much in the way of demons but i know they are a mostly foot army, I've also seen some very interesting SW lists revolving around maxed out troops on foot supported by long fangs. This appeals to me as well since horde is something you dont get to do with eldar or 18pt Necron warriors. Are there any other SM armies that can do foot in a semi competitive environment? Other thing I've heard mention of are Templars being able to do massed infantry or even foot C:SM gun lines.
Just looking for clarification/suggestions or comments regarding these or any other armies that would be a nice shift from the more mech play style
Thanks in advance

Black Templar or Deathwing perhaps? I havent played with or against them but they seem like very fun armies and they both foot slog mostly.

Yeah they are part of Dark Angels. Deathwing focus on Terminators as troops (mostly ranged weaponry I think). They got buffed pretty recently due to updated FAQ lowering their upgrade costs etc.

Ok that does sound like an interesting army to play,
What is the core of a Deathwing army say around 1500 pts is it strictly focused on termies on foot?

You could play blood angels, or if you're not interested in being competitive you could play ninja/gunline tau. Or grey knights with termies and purifiers.

Power blob Guard is a fun option if you don't mind painting a lot of models.

dark angels are very bad exept for a few things:
cheap and good temrinators
cheap and good landspeeders
a very cheap venerable dreadnought
I5 psyker
good stats on the chaplain
those things make them very good, be shur eto check the FAQ and grab belial.

Ok after looking through some Deathwing list here on Dakka they look to be a very interesting foot based army
Just for perspective what would a Black Templar infantry based army look like and is there any way to make it effective?
