The Bahrain proxy conflict and the actual conflict continue after yesterday's shocking violence.

Iranian lawmaker Hossein Naqavi tells Press TV: “The Saudi's should know for a fact that Tehran will use all the power and potentials at its disposal to halt the oppression of the people of Bahrain.”

Naqavi told the UN to take action, or Tehran would be forced to intervene. “Of course, we hope the Islamic Republic of Iran will not be forced to take such actions."

I wonder if they actually would? It would probably alarm the saudis for Iran to make a territory grab that close to them. Their influence wouldn't exactly skyrocket though. Bahrains not an incredibly populous country.

This is incredibly unlikely given that the United States Naval Forces Central Command is based in Bahrain.

Meh, Iran (its public leaders) have made a number of holier than thou statements about human rights and civil discourse in relation to the violent clashes that occurred in Egypt. All the while using violent means to suppress protests in Iran itself.

It’s a lot of saber rattling/PR stunt meant to score political points with the people in Iran, and show them that they (Iran’s leaders) aren’t such a bad bunch after all.
