Old Battle force better then new 1?

I have been looking at the diffrences with the new battleforce to the new ones and honestly I think the old nes are better.

This is the old IG battleforce

And this is the new one.

This is the Old tyranids Battleforce.

And this is the new one.

Anyone else think that the old Battleforces are better?

Definately they were. I had two of the Tyranid Battleforces, and back then the Fex was actually awesome. GW, after the 5th edition, apparently stopped caring about what customers wanted, and tried to make battle forces kids would buy more than once (More evident with the 4th ed SM battleforce, which had a command squad. No one can use more than two of these, and I doubt anyone wanted more than one).

I didn't buy the new Battleforce for this reason instead I bought Elysians.

I just thought for what they cost RRP $155 AUD it wasn't worth it and I would prefer paying a little more for FW models

Yeah, these are both the two brought up in this discussion when it comes up every few weeks. Personally, I don't mind the IG battleforce as a comparable value; the command squad is damned useful, and has enough cool stuff to kit out all your squads. The sentinel is of questionable use, but I've fielded them a couple times and they do alright.

The reason I didnt make a IG army back then was because the Battle Force didnt come with a full platoon, and I didnt want to buy the metal command squad for each battle force. Didnt find out until much later that you could just use a normal IG squad with 5 models to count as a Platoon Command Squad.

For the record though, back then the IG Battleforce wasnt that good of a comparative value, mainly because you could get a leman russ for 55 bucks and 20 guardsmen for 40 bucks (comparatively the canadian prices for those are now 60 for a russ, and 30 for 10 guardsmen).

Sentinels aren't bad. 105 pts for an outflanking squad that can put out nine strength 6 shots is reasonable. They're great at hitting rear armor, tying up infantry squads, and getting at enemy troops camping on backfield objectives (Capture & Control especially)

I honestly like the changes to both, although the Nid one doesn't quite compare value wise.

Well I personally prefer a leman russ tank to just 1 sentinal.

I might consider the new battleforce better had they included a squad of 3 sentinels.

It just seems better value to get a leman russ tank with the battleforce then a command squad and 1 sentinel
