Please don't hate 
I am planning on building a Blood Angels Army, because I want a SM type army, and my play style is CC also i like the wings
problem is, i don't think red is a great looking color on SM. So i want to get Dakka's opinion on this, would i get mauled by angry hordes if i showed up to a tourny with a BA army that was painted say mostly black with red markings and the like? or maybe a gunmetal with the same idea?

No I don't think you would. Just say that they are a successor chapter. That way you can still use the BA rules and paint them whatever colour you want.

Sounds perfect to me.
I'm going to move this to 40k general, as this is more of a ..well... general 40k acceptability question rather than a query about a specific facet of the background.
Good luck with the army though, we expect, nay demand pictures though.
