As some of you have seen in my other thread, I've taken up High Elves after I got tired of painting endless amounts of clanrats.

Does anyone have any tips for a new High Elf player?

And no, I'm not going to use Teclis

Start with a large unit of Sea Guard, with a Spearman unit to get your core. Then build from there.

If you can keep your head, while all about you are losing their's, then you have probably completely misunderstood the situation!

Is it worth the extra points to get Sea Guard over Spearmen?

I think so. Soften the enemy up with bows, then hit them with the spears.

sea guard are overpriced for their performance. They die just as easily as spearmen and hit just as much as archers. Keep in mind archers may hit more if you keep them from moving.

Phoenix guard are really good. I also favor dragon princes.

In my 2500 list I take a lv4 mage with book of hoeth, Prince with caster item that makes him a wizard, silver wand and radiant gem. I also run Caradryan and a BSB.

Then I run 2 units of 25 spearmen, 1 unit of 10 archers
5 dragon princes, 25 phoenix guard, 10 swordmasters, and 2 eagles

That's a 2500 list? This sounds like my kind of army

Anyway, why 25 spearmen? They can fight in 4 ranks, so one wouldn't be able to do much.

On moon miranda.

HE spearmen can fight in 5 ranks if a Horde however 50 WS4 ASF rerolling to-hit attacks can wreck anything that isn't a Chaos Warrior statline.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

But 25 is...2 and a half horde ranks.

I always have an extra rank for casualty purposes.
