It felt like a space marine book, the main character are practically protected by plot armor...
1)Towards the end, the marines waltz right in to command center and there is no security nothing? it wasn't even well guarded. And the command center was destroyed by one missile, and the drones just all fell like that...what kind of stupid alien technology is that? kill one the rest fall
2)In the beginning of the movie it took like a hundred rounds to kill one alien, towards the middle and ending it was like a couple of bullets was all it took to fell one...the story made the marines an even more expert marksman than a vindicare, i mean with all the aliens running and dodging they should even be lucky to hit one at their weak spot...
3) The events in the movie all happened in a day or two...first day aliens invade kicks the military ass so hard their airbase is gone their marines completely routed that the abandoned the city, the next day after they destroy the command center, the retake the city...wtf? the aliens came all the way from another galaxy with weapons same as us (that couldnt even penetrate marines armor) and no heavy tanks just a weird looking walking missile launcher and a hoverboard platfform machine gun thingy...
But in the end it was a really enjoyable movie if just for the action only...
I liked it, even if it was kind of "feth YEAH AMERICA!"
Spoiler:
1. Yeah, I thought of that. I think because it killed the power, and was partially underground was supposed to hide it for the most part. Also, it's not THAT irrational. I mean, if anyone took the internet or phone lines down, it'd cause chaos for our militaries, especially at longer ranges.
2. I noticed that, too. I think its because they kind of sprayed towards the beginning and shot everywhere, but later they were aiming. Although, the bridge scene seemed to take a while to kill the aliens.
3. I don't think they 'took the city' as such. They went back INTO the city, yeah. But it could take potentially weeks to fully clear out all the aliens (especially if they were in disarray after the command centre went down).

Overall I did like it but there was too much plot armour.
Spoiler:
I really didn't like the way the aliens seemed so powerful at the start and then the marines suddenly became experts at killing them. The aliens killed all the marines (in hours), wiped out the bases and exterminated hundreds of civilians, but a group of about 7 marines succed managed to survive and win. The film's major failure in my opinion.
1 was pretty bad. When the command base is that important you never leave it unguarded.
Point 3 was stupid. They had really inconsistent technology (fully capable of interplanetary travel but useless ground troops and no good equipment) as well as an invasion that seemed really badly planned. They were so outnumbered they would have lost even if they hadn't taken out the base. Look at the casulties they took taking one city, they would never have colonised the planet.
I liked it quite a bit. It wasn't meant to be Shakespeare. It was a summer flick with good special effects. It had bullets, bombs, and aliens, which is really all I can ask from a summer popcorn flick.
Now I'm just waiting for Priest in May.
-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG

I liked it well enough. I think a lot of people looked for reasons to hate like what they do with other movies. If it has guns, decent special effects, and a ok script I will probably like it. People anymore seem to think every movie that comes out should be good enough to make it to the top 10 of all time list. Just enjoy it for what it is people.

I thought it was a very good movie.
Spoiler:
1) Plot armour? The Marines die left, right and centre. And did anyone see that scene with the Helicopter crash coming?
2) It took a hundred rounds fired by an inexperienced marine shooting randomly at a creature with only a single weak spot. And it's not like they are popped like daisies the moment the weakness is discovered.
3) The aien invasion is occuring planetwide, so an instawin everywhere is less feasible. There were enough fancy alien weapons in there, the fact that their line weapons fired solid projectiles was the only similarity. Is it really so hard for you to fathom aliens without lasers?

Now
Spoiler:
except for the missile launcher, did the aliens fire solid shot? I thought it was some sort of energy based weapon. I really liked their hover tank towards the end.

I loved how the big secret to killing the aliens was
Spoiler:
shoot them center mass, but just a little to the side...yeah. It did seem like the aliens had weapons that were maybe 1-2 generations above us; no rayguns or nuthin. gak, if i were aliens that were just interested in our water, i'd drop chunks of rock on every major and minor city on the planet. Rocks are cheap, interstellar invasions not so much.

The movie, as described by one of my friends is less "America: The Movie" and more "Marine Corp: The Movie".

I thought the basic weaponry, utilised by their footsoldiers, was a more destructive solid shot weapon. Though you never really get a good look at it other than the fact that they're surgically implanted into the host.
And did anyone else think that the aliens sort of resembled the Collecters from ME2?

I'm sure the plot, acting and pretty much everything else that makes a movie good will be absent from Sucker Punch. However, I WILL be watching. Solely to see that Samurai with the Minigun.
