I am just getting into the Skaven, and I was wondering if any books were written about them? If so what ones should I read and which ones should I steer clear of? Thank you for the advice.

The Skaven are often depcited in the Gotrek and Felix novels by Nathan Long - if you want background - highly recomend:
"The Loathsome Ratmen and all their vile kin" - a Black Library book
"Children of the Horrned Rat" for the 2nd Ediiton Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay Game by BL / FFG.

Awesome, thank you, now if I were looking for some fiction involving the Skaven what books should I look at? What Gotrek and Felix novels should I look into?

There's also Temple of the Serpent and Grey Seer that are about Grey Seer Thanqoul. I haven't read them but from other people on forums I've heard good things. They should give you some pretty good insight into the Skaven.

Best background book on Skaven is said "Children of the Horrned Rat", more interesting background info than in any other book including the army book.
"The Loathsome Ratmen and all their vile kin" is OOP and expensive now. Written as being an in-universe book with fake in-universe sources. Interesting, stylish, but not that informative. Mentioned in the novel Grey Seer, where Felix uses this book to learn about the Skaven.
The Skaven Uniform book is of minor importance, but nice if you got everything else.
Black Library has now quite a lot novels with Skaven participation.
First one is William King: "Gotrek & Felix: Grey Seer", where both heroes fight off a Skaven invasion of all major clans led by Grey Seer Tanquol. Interesting, amusing, must read. Thanquol follows the heroes with mischief in the following novels as a sidekick BTW.
He proved so popular that he got his own novel series written by C L Werner : "Grey Seer", "Temple of the Serpent" and upcoming "Thanquol's Doom" in October. Have read the first one, also a highly enjoyable must read.
Another novel I have just ordered (OOP) is "Vermintide" by Bruno Lee.
The novelette "Island of Blood" is okay, enjoyable but not essential.
