If you are only interested in roleplays using the multiple choice/options format, then read no more. This does not concern you for I consider your roleplayes to be sub-par to proper roleplays that are written out in large posts by the players, offering everyone more freedom to express their creativity within the story.

Now, I have not failed to notice that ever since I joined Dakka and started posting up roleplays left, right, front and centre, dozens more have sprung up. While at first, I did indeed consider this to be a good, and rather amusing thing. But the fact is, there are far too many roleplays and not enough roleplayers in my opinion. I've seen far too many good roleplays die prematurely simply due to the fact that the players and GMs have gotten involved in too many other roleplays, and therefore the latest will get more attention as it's new and, in a way, perhaps more interesting.

So, that is why I have created this thread. Obviously, I cannot stop anyone from posting as many roleplay threads as they like, but I simply ask that if you have a roleplay idea, post it here, and with a bit of trust from each other, we can create a sort of "waiting system". As in, we wait until a few roleplays die off before starting any more. This way, there will be more players free to play on RP threads for longer.

A strange place

Hey, you stole my idea.

But yes, there are far to few rp-ers here on dakka dakka to "feed" a great deal of roleplays.

A waiting system is great, but like you said you can't control other people.

And to be frank a few more text rp-ers would be great.

Aahh, no worries. I may pick up on RPG's in two or three months time, or something. I'm currently in a state of...well... a bad mental state, so to speak.

I agree with Darko,at least partially ...If any single text based RP is going to have the potential to really grow than it's for the best not to have several of them all going at once.

However...I also see a problem with "Band wagon" players, those who jump into RPs and post for a page or two, then cease posting ,leaving plot holes where there characters were and loads of loose ends for GMs to tie up..

Add to this the random " Bang bang bang" players ,who seem more interested in RPing random shoot outs for the sake of "action" with little effort put into the narative of the RP itself...

I suppose I myself am guilty of flooding the RP market by launching the "Blood Moon" RP when I did...but the idea was there ...though the timing may have been off..
...I did try to compensate by posting an "interest" thread first.

Glen Danzig you say? I found this image by searching for images of Michale Graves. The other singer after Danzig... Though I may be wrong, because I'm not that familiar with that period in music history......

@Chowder: ha, yeah I prefer this one over my other. I have a big file in my documents full of possible avatars for forums.

Pretty sure that the image you have is in fact Graves, however he basiclly emulated the make up style that Glenn "created" years before...
If you check out any of the Danzig era Misfits photos (late 70's /early 80's) Glenn did a much the same sort of "skull face" from time to time...

No,he didn't...it was more of an "on occasion" thing, during that era Doyle (guitar) and Only (Bass) were the only two members who consitantly wore any sort of "stage make up"...
After Danzig split from the band and they later reformed with Graves (after a long legal battle with Danzig) the Makeup became more prevalent .

Guys, I know I'm being the biggest hypocrite ever but.. take it to PM maybe?

Edit: Also, recently I've been considering the idea of a Space Hulk roleplay.. as in, everybody gets a look in and you have multiple choices: Try and survive, cower in a corner with a pee stain down your trousers or go on a killing spree/martyrdom attempt. Naturally, I'd be the GM, just to ruin your day a lil' bit each time you came home from work/school/elsewhere.

Hmm...maybe I'll start an RP based on the Misfits Legal entanglements..Courtroom drama...sleazy lawyers ...it'll be a blast..

...Seriously though, While I clearly take "responsibility" for launching the Blood Moon RP (which most of those involved seem to be enjoying),I never abandoned any RP I was involved in,much to the contrary...I attempted to keep them going long after most of the players or even GMs had "stepped out".

I just started a cinematic/novel-style RPG in the vein of two ulta-successful ones I ran a year or two ago. I'm stalling the story a little bit to give Emperors Faithful and whoever else may want to join a chance to get in on the action. The setting is pre-Heresy, I've just melta'd some rebels, and now I'm waiting for some people to help me storm an observation post.

Going to be running a sequel to Lazarus very shortly. I'll need some new blood. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Lazarus has the most player deaths out of any other RP on Dakka, (around eight, I believe). Check my sig to see the current Lazarus, and post your ideas and suggestions for the sequel here. I also have an alternate Horus Heresy thread that I recently euthanized due to excess silliness. I'm planning on starting it back up after I finish off Lazarus. I also have a fantasy roleplay by the name of Uriah (also in my sig), which is on hiatus until I ca find another to run it. It's one of those threads were I'd rather play in, rather than run. So I'm currently looking for a replacement to run it.

actually, Hulk has amassed 11 players, and RZ&LWC had at least 12 or more.

Just find one of my more successful roleplays (http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/324418.page or perhaps http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/304483.page) and copy the general format.. but obviously change it for your story.

Are you planning on killing them all? I was referring to players killed in the line of roleplaying. Also, the Great Heresy amassed a whopping 17 players during it's early days.

I've got some good (imo) ideas for future rp's, but I don't want to GM them. I really don't like to be a GM, people expect too much of you.

Ain't it right Darko?

Yeah, people tend to expect a certain calibre from GMs which, if it abates, they tend to get all testy over the matter.

It's cos you end up having to give it your all, all the time. It's especially un-rewarding when people then react very little to your extensive hard work. This tends to lead to GMs then skipping out doing stuff, and procrastinating, causing the players to feel unloved.

I just don't like to Dm, because I made that satanic western Rp back then. I spent so much time coming up with background and ideas, but then everybody stopped rping it. It's damn frustrating.
