Hello there, my name is Phill and I need help!
I am a hobbyist that makes and paints and hardly ever plays the game, but I have been challenged to a game by someone much MUCH better than I so i need advice on how to at least make a game of it!
The points limit is 1500 and I will be facing some kind of space marine/chaos marine force so plenty on anti power armour seems to be the way I should go.
The catch....my army is a PURE
RT era army, by that I mean my options are limited to the models of that era that I have:
Couple of preds
3-4 rhinos
2 dreads
4 landspeeders
3 attack bikes with melta
30 tactical marines (flamers and missile launchers)
15 scouts with pistols and heavy bolters
10 sterngaurd
10 normal termies, 3 chainfists, 2 assault cannons (i also have 2 cyclone missile launchers)
10 termies, 3 chainfists, 2 heavy flamers.
10 assault termies, lightning claws, 3 hammers
Terminator chaplain, captian, librarian.
Captain models etc for
HQ options.
I have come up with an idea for a
HQ. With the old Vinvent Black Shadow bike with side car, if I use a techmarine rider and an old Conversion Beamer I could have a master of the forge on bike with conversion beamer model....which is cool.
OK, my list idea:
HQ:
Master of the Forge, bike, conversion beamer: 155
Elites:
5 Termies, Assault Cannon: 230
9 Sternguard 1 Sergeant, 2 Heavy Flamers, Power Fist, Combi Flamer, Rhino: 335
Troops:
9 Tactical 1 Sergeant, Power Fist, flamer & Missile Launcher, Rhino: 230
9 Tactical 1 Sergeant, Power Fist, flamer & Missile Launcher, Rhino: 230
Fast Attack:
Landspeeder Squadron: 3 Landspeeders, 3 Multimelta, 3 Heavy flamers: 210
(can speeders fire all their weapons in one round?)
Total: 1390...110 left...hmmm A predator or Dreadnought..or perhaps use the points to beef up the rhinos or termies?
What do you think? Any advice you could give me on how to build a competitive list would also help
