Savage Khorne Berserker Biker

Pics coming soon!

Gaming day at a local event. Very cool urban fighting tables, but I lucked out and was assigned a table with a spaceport that had some very good firing/driving lanes.

Map was basically the flat spaceport on the center-right, an impassable tall bunker on the center right, and lots of ruins and 3-story buildings all around the table edges. Objectives are located at the spaceport and around it, mostly on the left side of the board. My opponent is a Deathwing army, coming fresh from a win over Salamanders. Here are the lists:

Dark Angels:

Belial (with lightning claws)
Librarian

4 5-man terminator squads, all with varied gear (he played some annoying wound-allocation games to great effect!); Assault Cannons, missile launchers, chainfists, lightning claws, storm shield/thunder hammer. Belial's squad also had an apothecary.

Venerable dread w/ CCW, heavy flamer
Venerable Dread w/ twin-linked Lascannon, missile launcher.

Chaos Marines:

Kharn
Daemon Prince w/ Wings, MoN, Warptime

7 Plague Marines w/ 2 meltaguns, rhino
8 Khorne Berserkers (skull champion w/ power weapon)
10 CSM (Icon of chaos glory, 1 meltagun), rhino

2x Obliterators
2x Obliterators
Chaos Land Raider w/ Daemon Possession.

Chaos wins the deploy. I choose to go first, to at least try and take out the dreads and forces on the table before their friends arrive and also place some troops inside objectives in cover. I drop the Oblits inside ruins, a pair on the far right covering the spaceport, high up on a balcony, the other in a collapsed house on the far right. Land Raider and CSM rhino take the road in the center, with Daemon Prince hiding behind them. Plague marines depart from the far right to secure the spaceport.

Deathwing deploys both breads behind ruins on the center and read left of the map, as well as a single unit of termies on the far left, facing the bunker.

Deathwing tries to steal initiative but fails.

Chaos Turn 1: With both vendreads very well hidden, there are few targets. Plague Rhino charges forward on the road and sits between two spaceport objectives. Land Raider and CSM Rhino move 12' to the very center of the board, popping smoke. One of the oblits in the left-side ruins can see the termies on the other side of the bunker, and drops a Plasma Cannon shot on it. Cover save fails and one termie dies. The Blood God has its first appetizer!

Deathwing Turn 1: Two more deathwing units arrive via teleport, one of them with Belial and a Lib. One lands neatly on the left corner, with a perfect line of sight to my DP, CSM rhino and LR. The other tries to land on the right side of the boar but almost scatter off the map, a large crater between it and the CSM rhino. Both dreads walk out of cover to fire. Missiles and lascannon shots do nothing to the LR. the newly-arrived termies on the left rain storm bolter and AC fire on the oblits in the ruins and cause a single wound. The launchers on the termies in the back do a much better job, however. Two krak hits, and roll both 1's on the 2+ saves! Two insta-deathed Death Guard Oblits and my firepower on the left side of the board is much, much weaker. A last missile launcher immobilizes the CSM rhino. The termies on the left shoot at the plague rhino, but their few hits are lost to the smoke cover.

Chaos Turn 2: Well that bungles my plan. I was going to run the CSM rhino forward to pelt the dread with melta fire and turn the LR left to unleash zerkers on the Belial unit. And now the rhino keeps the Raider from getting there! LR moves forward instead toward the nearest vendread. Zerkers +Kharn disembark. CSM disembark from the rhino and form a line to cover the DP, who moves a bit forward to try and get to the original DW unit in the back left. Shooting starts well! The remaining oblits rain two plasma blasts on the bunched-together termies near the plague rhino, and both come up hit. 10 AP2 wounds vanquish the unit entirely and leave the whole left side of the board, rich with objectives, in my hands! In another lucky streak, 3 heavy bolter shots from the LR turret kill two of the termies in the back, leaving only one with the ML and another with plain storm bolter/pf. CSM fire on Belial's unit but all wounds are saved. Kharn and his World Eaters charge the Dread. He kills a single friend and would have destroyed the Dread, but after many rerolls thanks to the Venerable rule, he only manages to stun and shake it. A lot. Left with a single attack, the dread misses Kharn with its DCCW. Phew!

DW Turn 2: Another DW unit drops down, scattering into ruin on the left edge of the board. They all pass dangerous ground tests. Two termie units march right closer to my CSM. The Librarian in Belial's unit detaches and moves further still, firing an S5 AP 1 flamer template on seven of my traitors; four die immediately. Fire from the two nearby units thins them down to a single survivor, who stays his ground. More rockets and lascannon pelt the Land Raider, resulting in a single stunned effect ignored by the daemonic possession. Assault ensues; Kharn finally wrecks the Dread (not killing any buddies! Extra zerker chow for him tonight.) and they consolidate 4 inches toward the lascannon/ML dread. The Lib charges the very last CSM and fails to kill him, much to my grief since that keeps me from zorking him with lascannons from the Oblits in my coming turn!

Chaos Turn 3: Plague rhino drives right to join the fray, but gets slowed down in terrain. Daemon prince switches target and hops over the left bunker to assault the newest termie squad on the board. Denied the Lib as a target, Oblits manage to barely reach the termies in the back with plasma cannons (they are far more spread out now after their buddies on the right learned their last, gory lesson). Two of the termies die. However, the player removes those closer to my DP, denying him the charge! Clever. Kharn fires his plasma pistol at the Dread and fries his hand, taking a wound. LR opens up on the two remaining termies in the rear left, killing another. Kharn charges the long-range Dread and this time wrecks it instantly. He also hits a friend, but fails to wound. I roll a one for consolidation and they barely manage to turn, far away from any other target (expcet the sole remaining ML termi in the back right). Lib and remaining CSM keep fighting without a definition.

DW turn 3:[b] Two squads of termies open withering fire on the DP, and he takes a rending wound from an AC. The sole ML termi on the rear fires missiles at the LR to no effect, then charges it with a chainfist to great effect and wrecks it. I hadn't seen that...ugh. The fresh termi squad assaults the prince, as does Belial's gang; they take two casualties and then cause two more wounds, leaving him with a single wound left. The Librarian finally kills the last CSM and starts moving up, near my immobilized rhino.

[u]Chaos Turn 4:
Berserkers move down to try and reach the Daemon Prince in combat. Plague Rhino wedges between the LR wreck and a ruin and disembark. Oblits hit the Librarian with a lascannon shot, but he uses a psyker power to replace hit Inv safe and lives! Bastard. Melta Plague marines vaporize the ML/chainfist termi by the wrecked land raider. Also, my immobilized rhino fixes itself! I almost forgot they could do that. I goof and run with my zerkers, unsure about being in assault range, forgetting they are not fleet! The Daemon prince focuses all Attacks on Belial now, and thanks to Warptime causes four wounds. Both the DP and Belial die, tearing each other up simultaneously.

DW turn 4: Librarian keeps moving up. . All remaining Deathwing fire on the zerkers causing three casualties, one of them the skull champion. Then all of them assault Kharn's unit. Bad idea, folks. Kharn beheads 4 termies before they can strike. One squad focuses on Kharn, causing a single TH wound that is saved. The other manages to kill two more zerkers. The remaining berserkers fail cause any more unsaved wounds.

Chaos Turn 5: Plagues hole up in the objective ruins just north of the spaceport. Oblits come down from their balcony and hit the Librarian with two plasma rifle shots, but he saves one with his bull shield power, taking a single wound. Kharn murders the last terminator in Belial's former unit. The zerkers take care of the rest. The only DW model left alive on the table is the Librarian!

DW turn 5: Librarian runs up the wrecked LR and fires his template at the plagues. Being far away, he only manages to hit two of them. This time, it comes out S1, and thus cannot wound the plague marines. Player concedes.

A very fun game and a kind of army I had never fought before. I had some serious streaks of luck: wiping out 5 terminators in a single oblit plasma onslaught, and Kharn being generally well-behaved. He also had some good fortune with insta-killing my two other oblits at once and getting lots of rending shots on his ACs, but not nearly as much.

I have to say I was unimpressed at the Mark of Nurgle, though against an army with so many power fists/thunder hammers, it couldn't be helped. But oh, if I had kept himas a Lash prince to face Deathwing. Such pretty round blobs of terminators I would make to invite plas-cannon fire!

In Boxing matches, you actually get paid to take a dive and make the other guy look good.

In Warhammer 40K, you're expected to pay cash out of your pocket for the privilege of having Marines and IG trample all over your Xenos/Chaos.
