Background says Sanguinius was warped by chaos, and obtained his angel wings from being so touched, but why didn't something similar happen to other Primarchs? Ferrus Manus had his metal hands, but that was from his duel with Asirnoth. Shouldn't the others have had some extraordinary trait like Sanguinius' wings?
Oh, and I'm new. Hi.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...

Welcome to dakka!

i'm not really an expert about "primarch mutatology", but I believe a few of them had a mutation of some sort.

-Magnus had a single, big eye (like a cyclops), IIRC. He was regarded as a mutant by the people that sheltered him when he was taken away from his daddy.
-Corax had a very pale skin, and dark hairs. But it was probably not a real mutation. It could even simply be that he was an emo.
-Vulkan had a black skin (literally jet-black, not like an African's skin color) and red eyes, but this was caused by the radiations of Nocturne's star, not by a mutation from the warp.
-Leman Russ was a bit "wolfy" (fangs, yellow eyes like a wolf, etc), just as any SW, but I guess this "mutation" was caused by the emperor, not by the warp either.
-and finally, alpharius got copy-pasted!

Thanks! I had forgotten about Magnus' one eye, pretty sad considering his pivotal role in the Heresy. I suppose Leman Russ' could have been a natural adaption to his enviorment, wolves and all that.

from drawings of Magnus, it seems like he lost his other eye.

his remaining eye is on the left side of his face and he has a scar where the other would be.

If I remember correctly, I think Magnus may have given up his second eye to Tzeentch as part of the bargain to save the Thousand sons from the flesh change. I think.

true! although his magical eye had always been there so thats possbily a mutation

if i recall correctly on magnus and sang were mutated in anyway although even these could have been intentional by the emperor

(on a side note isn't there a theory that when sanguinieas (sorry im not a blood angels fan so excuse the spelling) got his wings the black rage and red thirst was passed on to in order to cause destruction on the BA when he eventually died?)

The Black Rage and the Red Thirst are (Apparently) caused by Sanguinius' psychic death scream which imprinted itself on the BA gene-seed.
Most other mutations of the primarchs came from their gene-seed.

oh yeah the death scream is certain but theory is it was like a trap placed there by chaos to be trigged on sang's death

it was all set in a battle plan i think since the blood angels were holding the gates to the palace the Chaos gods expected sang to be a easy kill for horus and in one move sweeping the palace and a whole chapter/primarch aside they just didn't account for sanguineas death throes that broke the link on horus leats salvaging something and also it was set to cripple the BA even if they did survive ( and in my opinion conquering the black rage doesn't cure you i think mephiston either gonna turn into a monster or sanguineas reborn since he is the son of A god who died for the sins of his brothers/father? reminds me of a book most people have heard of )

@ alphacerberus I also think there is something fishy about mephiston. I'd like to think he will be Sanguinius reborn at some point but i think the monster or deamon prince falls in line with what GW does with marines.....makes then die

Alright, so Sanguinius was the only one who was mutated from being spirited away from Terra, and the others were based on the environment the Primarch was
put in.
@Alphacerberus: Thanks for the death scream tibit. I wasn't sure about how the black rage and red thirst came to be in the Geneseed.

Sanguinious was the only visible mutation.

the Chaos Gods could have warped the primarchs in other ways though. they all had latent psychic ability, Magnus and Sanguinious more then most.

funny thing is russ hated every psycher even tho he was one himself his roars deafened people on the psychic level and even caused TS space marines to flesh change.

also i recall a spacemarine of another chapter saying he could feel his psychic abilities at that point russ knocked him out xD (can't remember where from but if i do ill edit this)

The primarchs were mutated due to geneseed and the warp.
Leman Russ for example gets his mutations from his genetics.
Sanguinious gets it from the warp.

Yeah, Russ' deal was probably from a latent gene and his wolf mommy. But then again, space vikings ARE kind of Khorney .

They were supposedly designed to be the ultimate put down to other SM legions. Ruthlessness is their byword.
