Subject: Transports in Reserve

Lets say I have unit and their transport in regular reserve together (NOT OUTFLANKING), must the unit arrive embarked in the transport or can it walk on to the board at the same time as the transport?
Do I need to make any sort of declaration when I put the unit and transport into reserve (NOT OUTFLANKING) of wether they are embarked or not?

Yes, look at page 94 BRB under preparing reserves. You must declare this to your opponent.

A dedicated transport can be put in reserve either empty or carrying the unit it was bought for. If you put it there empty, you role for it separately, as its a separate unit.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |

You must declare if they are embarked or not. If embarked, then they arrive together and you roll for them as a single unit, if they are not embarked, they are rolled for as separate units and can arrive separately. This declaration is done during the deployment, before you place anything on the table while you are deciding the reserves.
The only thing that can possibly change this is the Dark Eldar Webway Portal, as there was quite a thread going about it, and noone could agree (mostly myself and time, with Scott chiming in a bit also) If you want, im sure you can easily find that thread to research it if you are playing DE.
(that was just for you btw time....)

Indeed! I have been mulling it over.
There is the possibility that Dark Eldar may have the ability due to their web way portal special rule to change the way units that were placed in reserve embarked may arrive either from reserve or at least onto the field of battle.
As Galador said, you can look up the thread on this.
There is no definitive ruling one way or the other so far, and there might never be an official one from GW.
I believe that, if it is ruled true in future (and as a new DE player, I hope that it is!) it will be a definite strategic advantage to the Dark Eldar forces!
How good it might be tactically remains to be seen!
But for every other force out there so far, your transports have the following rules:
A dedicated transport can only arrive from reserve either transporting the unit it was selected with or empty.
A non-dedicated transport can only arrive from reserve either empty or transporting any legal unit that was placed in it in reserve.
