Oh hai guys.

I'm making up a new space marine chapter, with a black-silver-with hints of red colour scheme and I could use a name for it.

I've decided to use to dragon age II graffiti style logo, for my iconography (http://www.videogameswallpapers.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/dragon-age-2-wallpaper-05-loading-screen.jpg) simply because I think it's pretty awesome, but mostly because my freehand skills are woeful.

Name should be something cool, maybe with some latin in it (bit of a fetish for the classics).
Also, if there's any suggestions you might have, lemme know.

Working on a vindicator atm, I'll post pics when done, with the dragon age logo on.

It means red birds of prey.

That's a s**t hot name, Polonius.

I've never really thought of having it as a bird, rather than a dragon, but it's rather more original.

Bird's of prey is still pretty cool sounding, unless it's actually latin for one-legged pigeon with a dodgy eye and self confidence issues.

Hmm.... that symbol looks a bit 'Chaosy' to me....

Well... I'm not particularly clued up on the whole SM background, but I'll fire some fluff, and we'll see what sticks.

This chapter is charged with the more undesirable, less clear-cut missions not for the faint of heart.

They worked with the inquisitors, and had a hand in the exterminatus of Cyrene, suppressing resistance from the Blood Raven's homeworld.

Ruthless, un-relenting and a little bit too fanatical in their worship of the Emperor, they do not stop, in order to achieve their mission.

How's that?

Oh, and that name generator amused me greatly.

"Umbrageous Gorillas" had to be my favourite.

Pretty good.
Try not to stick them in already established fluff too much.
Battles like Armageddon or the 13 Black Crusade are good ideas.
I like the ruthless nature.
Possibly have them slightly ostracized from other chapters for their attitude.
A chapter like this probably wouldn't specialise in much apart from destruction of an imaginative nature...
The name would need to evoke an image of blood and destruction yet piety and faith.
Redeemers?
Heavy use of destructive weaponry and shock tactics i'm guessing?
Little room for subtley and stealth and due to this a near disdain for it?
Serves Inq. faithfully on mssions where they are attached to them?
Will essentially martyr themslves to ensure the destruction of an enemy?
Redeemers probably fits it well methinks... though names were never y strong point...

Mistrusted by other chapters, yet recognised as essential.
In terms of the tactics, you've managed to extrapolate exactly my play style. Guns up front, no messing around. If the battlefield doesn't end up just a crater filled with bodies and armament, then it's not been done right.

Castus, which means pious, and any of the following:

Devasto: to ravage

Corruo: destroyed/ to tumble

Eruo/Everto: to destroy/ demolish

Deleo/ Anullo: to obliterate/ annihilate

Although all of these are verbs this can be solved by simple adding an R and possiblely an S to the end, for example:

Castus Devastor

OR

Castus Corruors

I personaly like these, and if you don't use them, then I propably will

If you wouldn't mind my opinion something like Sanguis Draconis would be amazing if you're using the DA2 dragon

All I need now is to make up some believable fluff. Something that fits in somewhere reasonably obscure.

Who do you want to fight?
Are Xenos a big enemy of your chapter?
If so then in the galactic east is a good idea.
If it's chaos you want to fight then next to the Maelstrom or the EoT is a good bet.

Hmm, methinks chaos would be better suited. The most pious of chapters are needed to repel the temptations of chaos.

Whack them near the EoT or the Maelstrom then.

Helped me enourmously with my fluff...

You said your guys are ruthless...having them put down a lot of rebellions and the like would help that image; imagine having them perform exterminatus on a planet corrupted with chaos but with over 3 billion non-tainted survivors....

to fit that, I'd place it close to the EoT, but still rather close to a cluster of populated planets, making the "Send in the Dragons" thing more practical. If that's what your going for of course; I'm just throwin ideas out dere.

I imagine your chapter would have to be mobile if you have to follow the inquisiton around, so possibly a fleet chapter?

Or maybe your chapter has a string of secret bases throughout their area of operation, that would be pretty cool

Also a history of isueing exterminatus would make sense.

I like this idea but i think it would be better if they attached squads to follow and serve Inq. with the rest of the chapter acting normally but ready to drop their stuff and help out an Inq. in need.
The secret bases sounds good though...
Maybe a string of hidden armouries?
Not just exterminatus but also any kind of ruthless act it would also have to be brutal and to the point.
Burning a hive to the ground to stop a daemonic summoning by a large cult for example.

Maybe something along the lines of Blades of the Forsaken? I always liked the name but i liked Shadow Wolves better for myself.
