I've been thinking of using a Farseer on jetbike with my new army, but I find a jetbike warlock squad way too costly.

Instead, joining a Farseer to a squad of 6 Guardian jetbikes seems like a good idea. He gets some ablative wounds while sticking close to the battlefield, easly able to use doom and Fortune where necessary, and those Jetbikes are manuverable enough to swoop in and out of shooting range without getting attacked. With 2 suriken cannons that's a respectable shooty capability.

With a shining spear he even has a decent chance of popping vehicles. A warlock with another spear and Destructor would also enhance both anti troop and anti vehicle attacks. I guess Conceal is also an option, though I would guess you'll be in cover most of the time anyways.
Adding a spiritseer is also obviously useful if you are running Wrathanything.

Most importantly, the unit remains a scoring troop. With fortune, you have a much greater chance of surviving that last minuite objective grab.

So, how come I dont see many stategies mentioning this? Am I missing something critical here?

its not that there is anything wrong with that build, per se.

The biggest problem people have with the jetseer is how expensive her bike is- 30 pts!

You also have to remember that a farseer can cast doom / guide/ fortune from a wave serpent, and because of the way casting from a vehicle works, it actually increases her casting radius of these powers. Since you'll be buying wave serpents anyway in most lists, such as for bladestorming avengers, storm guardians, howling banshees, even DAVU- there really isn't any reason not to just shove the farseer into one of those and spend the 30 pts elsewhere.

Sure you can't cast abilities like mindwar from the saftey of a wave serpent, but the farseers shooting abilities are very lackluster compared to his support ones.

The main reason people take the jetbike then, is to provide fortune to a squad of jetbike warlocks. Re rolling 3+ and re rolling 4++ is very tough to take out, and having the farseer with the squad that needs fortune is important.

In fun games I've played this squad before.

Jetseer- Doom, Fortune, Sstones, RoWarding, Sspear
6 Jetbikes- 2 Cannons, Warlock, Conceal, SS

It is probably my favorite squad as an Eldar player to bring with fortune a 3+/5++ really gives people headaches and I tend to run it in smaller points games where a council isn't going to fit.

But it picks on armor quite well with 6 str6 shots and 2 Str9 and it can threaten infantry when you doom the target the small arms fire can tear apart weaker units.
