Subject: Grey Knights unit type: Infantry (character). Typo or written for 6th edition?

Willing Inquisitorial Excruciator

Something I have noticed while reading the new GK book is that there is a new unit type, Infantry (character).
Who has this unit type?
Everything that is an Independent Character (including all of the special character, HQ's and Techmarines).
Crowe (Special Character BUT is not an IC)
Assassins (units of one model and unique, but do are not IC's)
Justicar Thawn (Upgrade Character for terminators, can act as a separate unit after death, not an independent character)
It would appear that the unit type is formatted similar to the different types of vehicles.
Vehicle (tank, fast)
Infantry (character)
So here are the questions?
1) By having the Unit Type: Infantry (character) is there any affect on the RAW for these characters. Do they still follow infantry rules? Are they not usable as their unit types does not exist in the BRB? Are there any rules is the Character section of the BRB that would affect them?
2) Are there rules in any of the expansions that refer to Characters instead of Independant Characters that would affect these models?
3) Do you think that this is just a typo or do you think that this is something that we will see in the 6th edition rulebook.

If I remember correctly, there are some rules in other armies that specifically effect enemy 'characters' rather than HQ, for example the Deathleaper's 'It's after me'. It might be trying to stop potential confusion?

The BRB section that contains all IC rules is, in fact, titled "Characters".

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |

There are examples of other, non-IC, 'units' that could be characters or not for example The Swarmlord, unit upgrade 'characters', or, as OP states, assassins.

The BRB even tells us that these models are characters, they just don't have any special rules attached to the term.

So it looks like all of these models CAN be affected by the Death Leaper's ability "it's after me" as it mentions characters, not Independent characters.
However, Zogwart's curse (a similar ability) does specifically mention "Independent characters" so the models listed above that are not IC's can not be affected by this.
-----------
It does appear that all of these Characters are bound by WYSIWYG, as this is a rule from the Character section of the rulebook.
