Hey there Dakka!

I'm looking to learn a little about electronic art, and I'm hoping to buy a drawing tablet. It doesn't have to do anything particularly fancy and I'm definitely not looking for something top of the line, but are there any particular features or functions that I should be on the lookout for? I'm a beginner, but really keen and usually pretty quick to get my head around technical stuff. I know there are some awesome artists here who've done a lot of work with these kind of things, so I'd love any (any!) tips you might have before I make a purchase.

Apologies if any similar threads are already up (a quick search didn't throw anything up) and thanks in advance to anyone who responds!

I've tried a few out; never really liked any of them. I much prefer my paper and pencils/pens/brushes/ etc.

I would suggest you try before you buy. You don't want to spend hundreds or even thousands of bucks and then find out you prefer old fashioned paper and pencil.

Other than that though, I can't give too much advice on the subject. . . good luck!

Check out Wacom. They've got a whole range of tablets for all budgets. I had a cheap-ish one a couple of years back. I'm no artist mind you, but it definitly takes a lot of getting used to.

Those are some of the best. I have never been too keen on the ones that you draw on and the marks show up on the monitor. The ones that you actually draw onto the screen are pretty damn awesome, (Cintiqs).
