As soon as I saw the Araknarok model, I knew I had the basis for the Tervigon conversions I'd been wanting to do...

It's still a work in progress, mind you... There's a lot of "squished" kneadatite to clean up (mostly in the neck area), some areas where I'll need to sculpt some details since the "real" Araknarok parts aren't going to be used, and I haven't decided if I'm going to make spore chimneys or not but the general shape and design is there. I opted to use a crested head as it so nicely mirrors the Alien Queen that I couldn't resist, even if it deviates a bit from the official artwork but I may try out a straight Carnifex head to see how that looks as well. Finally, I'll probably replace the Araknarok's stinger with some sort of "birthing tube", I'm thinking with a Termagant coming out, but we'll see. There's less space left on the base than I was expecting...

The body, obviously, is from the Araknarok but I wanted to make sure it looked "Tyranid-y" enough so I didn't use any of the head or leg parts from the Araknarok. The hind legs and one set of the scything talons are from a Carnifex kit. As is the head under the crest. The crest and another set of the scything talons are from a Trygon/Mawloc set.

Anyway, without further ado, some "in progress" shots of my "Araknagon".

I didn't take any "step by step" shots, but I'm planning on doing at least one more and if folks are interested, I can take some pix as I work on the next one.

Great looking conversion, John. It's come a long way since last Sunday. I'll look forward to seeing how much farther along it is still this coming weekend.
