I recently got my hands on one of those old land raiders made out of that whitish plastic, and i was wondering, if i was to dip it in simple green to strip off it's paint, would it survive? I'm worried I'll melt the old thing. Thanks!

Super clean and simple green have the same active ingredient if I recall. Considering that superclean is quite a bit more potent, I'd like to state that I let some nids sit in a vat of the stuff, and it took like....six months for the plastic to start getting damaged.

I'm willing to bet you won't have any issues.

You could strap a pantsless ork on something and make it look Imperial with enough Aquillas and Purity Seals. -Da Butcher

I would say no based off of experience. I would definately monitor the progress/time you have it submerged in simple green, but SG is much less harsh than other paint stripping chemicals.

Update to original post. Sorry for the threadromancy.

I have had this land raider soaking in simple green for about a month and there has been NO damage to the plastic at all: no softening, no warping, no damage at all.

I personally use Detol, dont know if you can get that in the US but I've stripped some really old plastic space marines and plastic dreads / rhinos and it comes out fine.

People even use it for baths and gargle it for sore throats, its a disinfectant but is really good for taking off paint, shouldnt damage the old plastic i'd say

I've got some RT marines in simple green. They've been there for about 3 weeks. No damage yet.

Simple green is not the strongest stripping agent, but it's so safe to humans and minis that it's my first choice. I've left models in there for a year with no damage.
