Hey, I've drawn up a new chapter and as I'm rather new to this fluff business, thought I'd run this past everyone.
Any inconsistencies?

Smithy

Name: Dracones Sanquinium
Founding Chapter: Dark Angels
Homeworld: Larissa, Segmentum Obscurus
Main colours: Black, Red, Silver

A small, fledgling chapter consisting of fewer than 1000 Astartes, the Dracones Sanquinium (Blood Dragons) were created to support the peripheral chapters, especially the Sentinels of Uphrateus of whom they have developed a understanding, yet wary relationship with.
The Dracones Sanquinium are a fleet chapter, were formed by a small cohort of veterans deemed with the task of performing tasks deemed undiserable by their fellow marines. These tasks are performed with such zeal and conviction, that their ruthless and arguably immoral mindset earned an element of mistrust from other chapters and are therefore somewhat ostracized from them.
Most Astartes deem the Dracones' faith excessive, serving Inquisitors without question, sending companies to assist expunging the taint of chaos in worlds susceptible to it's inexorable corruption. Without mercy, the Dracones have performed exterminatus on such a planet, eliminating 6 billion humans, a third of which who had not yet been subjected to the taint.

Around half the chapter remain on Larissa, the proximity of which to the Eye of Terror make it subject to relatively small Chaos attacks, while the remainder are dotted through the sector, in remote hidden armouries.

In battle, the Draconis resorts to methods considered crude; resorting to artillery and heavy weaponry, forming large craters where their enemies once stood. The shirk away from the subtlties of stealth, refusing to utilise scouts and lightly armoured speeders and bikes.

The composition of the Dracones is formulaic with each of the 6 companies consisting of the following set up:

Commander 1st Company/Captain for Companies 2-6.
Command Squad
6 Tactical Squads; Rocket Launcher and 1 other item of wargear.
2 Terminator Squads with an assault cannon.
1 Dreadnaught
3 Assault Squads
2 Whirlwinds
1 Vindicator

This format allows all companies to be homologous and their tactics are therefore well rehearsed, but this lack of flexibility can be their weakness. Because of this, and their relatively vulnerable size, the Dracones Sanquinium only enters battles after a calculated decision, choosing fights carefully to ensure victory.

Sanguis Draconis - Blood Dragons? I don't know if this has been done, but darn good name if I do say so. Reminds me of the armor in the game Dragon Age

Now, one would assume (and we all know what that does to us) that they are descended from the Blood Angels and not the Dark Angels. But you're probably taking the Blood Ravens approach where the name really hasn't much to do with which line of descent the Chapter follows... but rather exists to offer some ambiguity.

Either way, I think you're well thoughout. Looking forward to seeing some fluff posted!

EDIT!!!

Oh yeah, read articles on the Red Scorpions for info on zealous Chapters.

Your Latin is a little off; I believe you're looking for Dracones Sanguinum.

Excellent, thanks for the heads-up. And in regards to the latin, why Sanguinium? I'm hardly fluent, but i'm curious as to why that is.

If you have a look at my vindicator in my gallery, you might notice the iconography is rather similar to that of the DA2 logo. I say similar.... I mean blatantly stolen

In the sector where the Blood Dragons fight, Imperial Gothic has changed over the centuries. Most words have altered slightly or gathered a different meaning.

Problem solved.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

"Customer Chapter Fluff" you say?

I agree with Frazzled though. That fluff list may not work out the best for you on the table.

Unfortunately those of enamoured with the 40k fluff are sadly disappointed when we get to the game table.

Fluff lists are always interesting...
If you wanted to represent the Draconis' penchent for fclose quarters weapons you could use Vulkan under a different name to make your flamers and meltas better.
Also considering the chapter's 'personality' and tactics you might want to think about grabbing some TH+SS terminators. Not only will they be pretty good normally but taking not-Vulkan will make them a bit better.
