While I was looking at some stuff for starting IG as a side project I realized I wanted to follow a nice bit of fluff for my Space Wolves: the fact that they have a bunch of Leman Russ tanks on hand (100 i believe?).

Now obviously I would want it to be useable by my Wolves so it would have the be a Leman Russ Exterminator. That pretty much limits me to making it a predator with twin-linked auto-cannons. Not sure what I would put in the middle of the tank, sponsoons are annoying to figure out as well. It may be easier to cheat fluff and use the demolisher as a Vindicator and use a storm bolter I have in my Wolves box in the middle for the Vindicator's free one.

Anyone ever done this? My local GW manager said he wouldn't mind me fielding one as a Predator, I'm sure it'd be the same if it was a Vindicator, though the turret would have to be glued in place. If anyone has any advice or critiques of my plans PLEASE tell me. I've never built a Leman Russ, only built 1 Rhino so far, though this project may be a bit far off, I just want to plan it out.

I've always wanted to use a Demolishor as a Vindi. The SM tanks dont really do it for me anyways. Go for it. Just make sure there's sufficient wolf icons on it. There's also a great cow-catcher style Dozer blade you can do with two dozer blades, which can represent the Siege Shield.

Alternatively, you can just field them in apoc. I would think that Long fangs would be better for normal engagements.

Bolter side-sponsons, Autocannons up top, and a bolter up front as the "storm bolter". If people throw a hissy fit, take an extra storm bolter on top, and pay double on the front-mount storm bolter, and it might shut their yaps.

I am actually sure if you have plenty of unused front-mount lascannons, since the slots are all identical, you would be able to mount them as sponsons if you had enough kicking around.

The thing is Space Wolves DID actually field leman russ tanks, hunt out the previous SW codex that has it in there. Sadly, you would only be able to do this with any degree of success by torrenting a pdf..... or starting a petition to have GW post out-of-date codices on the DLC portion of their site.

That's why the Vindicator thing makes more sense, if not fluff-wise.

Do you mean like two dozers attached one on top of the other to make a super dozer blade?

I cant find the pic now, but I saw one (either here or Warseer) where some guy took two Leman Russ Dozer Blades, shaved down one side of both at an angle, then glued them together like a cowcatcher (you know, those triangular things that go in front of Trains). It looked awesome, and would be perfect as a Siege Shield (you can write off the lack of height to the Leman Russ's armor, which is suppose to be thicker than Vindi front armor).

Oh, I know what you mean. Someone at the GW talked about making an Ork Truk for the winter with a triangle snow plow.
