I decided its time to start a blog and open dakka to my horrible painting/modeling/gaming skills/photo taking skills.
But what better way to get better at your hobby, then to be pelted with rotten veggies known as criticism right?
So lets start off, I started warhammer
40k last fall after a year of depression and need to add some change to my life. Ive known about the game for quiet some time but bit pondering on rather I should invest in it or not. I live out in the middle of a small town with are last gaming club disbanding after are wonderful comic store can't seem to show any ambition for it besides selling the products. So in a effort to still play the game I tend to road trip to other gaming clubs to play a few matches. As well as my friends that I let barrow my ork and space marine armies from my good old Assault on black reach set.
anyhow...back to what you probably clicked on this thread for in the first place...
Cadian 56th “Grim Reapers” Regiment
The Renegade commander looks down upon his map with a mix of fear and anger. “Curse the false emperor!” As he threw the maps aside. Outside he could hear the sounds of lasgun fire, and distant mortars. “How can this happen? The plan was so perfect So flawless!. Just then his servant runs in panting and partially wounded. “There coming sir! We can't stop them, there to fast!”. With a loud crack the servant falls face first. The commander instinctively reaches for his bolt pistol, but its to late as a dagger pierces his chest. Falling back from the sudden impact he yelled out in pain. Above him stood a cloak figure. “Death to the heretics” he said to the commander silently. And with a flash of light the commander was dead. Outside the sound of fighting has stopped, a weary silence laid over the battlefield. All that was left was a pile of dead renegades. On top was a banner of black and red. It was the banner of the Grim reapers, the one and only Cadian 56th regiment.
Get geared up soldier!
Having purchased my
CCS, 2 squads, Karskins, and a couple of Chimeras I had to decide what kinda camo scheme I wanted. I didn't care so much as it was realistic, but as it was practical at my level of painting skill and it just looked cool. So after browsing a good article from the games workshop website I found this.

.
I didn't really like the green arrows so I cut those out of the plan but the overall look and feel I enjoyed well.
In my ever noobish skill I quickly learned why it recommends several coats of Scab red. Despite having no problems with other colors scab red seems to just enjoy bleeding threw or getting bled threw every other color. So with this I learned to water it down well and coat it on thick in areas that would allow you to.
here is my semi-final results for my chimera
sorry for the bad pic, crappy digital camera is crappy.
As you can see the scab red likes to bleed threw everything, so another gray will have to be added. The transfers went on smooth and easy however.
More to come as I get better at taking pictures >.<
