I'm looking for this particular western movie. I saw it a long time ago when I was a kid

Basicly from what I remember this town holds a dueling tournament,
the main character I believe is a women

There is a prisoner in the duel as well who is only allowed one bullet.

if anybody knows the name of the movie I would appreciate the help.

Pretty good movie? That's a matter of taste I suppose. I've heard nothing but terrible things about it. And the compiled reviewer rating on Rottentomatoes corroborates that judgment:

The Quick and the Dead is underrated by movie snobs, and overrated by action/western fans.

It's a decent movie. It's not great, but it's somewhat entertaining. It has it's cheesy moments and the plot is rather simplistic. But, that didn't stop everyone from praising Avatar, did it?

If you want to turn off your brain for an hour or two and just relax, I highly recommend this movie. If you're looking for something to move you, or stimulate you intellectually, avoid it.

Pretty much this....

It's by no means a "great" film...but..it's not terribly bad ..and of course,by and large I find most westerns have fairly "simple" plots anyway...so The Quick and the Dead wasn't "disapointing" in that aspect.

On a somewhat related note, since moving to my afternoon-night schedule (I go in around 2 to 4 and stay 8 hours) I've been addicted to Bonanza on TV Land. Gunsmoke not as much, though it has better action.

I enjoy watching old western tv shows on occasion...Bonanza is great ( who wouldn't love Hoss?) and Gunsmoke is one of my all time favorites along with The Big Valley,Have Gun will Travel and Wanted Dead or Alive.

The Quick and the Dead is okay. The setting is a little contrived, pacing is a little slow, and the climax underwhelming, but the action scenes are fun and there's some good moments. How many films have you seen where you get to see Leonardo DiCaprio killed?

It was also Sam Raimi's second mainstream movie, after Darkman. So if you're into his stuff, it's well worth checking out. If you're a fan of classic westerns, you probably won't like this quite as much.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.

I'll second that vote. I had a film professor in college who thought so too. It was the final exam film for his western film class. Sergio Leone along with Ennio Morricone and the fine cast and crew of that film produced the finest Western ever made.

Not nearly enough clint eastwood
I am a huge Eastwood fan too. My favorite movie of all time is The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, but it's not really a western, rather it's an amazing action story set in the west. "Real" westerns have a frontier with "civilization" to protect from some form of savage threat on the frontier and a hero who has the skills of the villains to defend the civilization, then must take his threatening skills with him when the threat is over because they don't fit in civilized society. Shane is a great movie and a classic example of the "Western" archetype. Unforgiven fits the formula, though it's "revisionist" so it turns some elements on their head. In The Good, The Bad and The Ugly the civilization is just a convenient place to sleep and sometimes an inconvenient nuisance to the three main character as they embark on their treasure hunt.
