Since you test for the red thirst after a independent character would be attached would the character benefit from the furious charge rule.

I would say no as the USR doesn't say it does and neither does the entry in the IC special rules section.

Furious charge is one of the "by model" USRs.
Red thirst is also properly written in that the "unit" tests for it(Unit includes the ICs); but only members of the "Squad" are effected by it.

Fluffwise most ICs are so seasoned that they won't give in to it I guess.

Actually fluff wise they can tap into whenever its needed, and or let it take them over when needed.

Although...
It will be interesting to see how this thread turns out, now that Gwar is no longer with us, and Hazard has grown board with YMDC.
Okay, let's get down to business:
TRT says that you test each unit with the rule, if you roll the appropriate number, the entire squad gets Fearless and FC. At the time of testing, an attached IC is part of the squad, so he would gain Fearless and FC. The model itself gains the rule, so he'd retain Fearless and FC even if he left the original unit.
So, Yes, an attached IC is effected by the squads TRT.
C'mon, who wants to disagree?

I'm going to have to disagree. I would say that since he doesn't have the Red Thirst rule, he won't retain Fearless / FC if he breaks from the unit or the unit is wiped out from under him because he never had to roll, thus never succumbing to the Red Thirst. He will have Fearless / FC as long as the squad he's attached to has it and is alive, as per the normal fearless / FC rules.

Holy Crud not this one again!
To sum up my argument from one of Grakmar's links - an IC is not part of a squad he is attached to - he is attached, but not part of it. IC's also don;t have TRT rule in their entry - I think this therefore makes them immune/unaffected to it.

That's an invalid argument. An IC becomes part of the squad, he isn't attached to it.
P48 BGB: "Independent characters are allowed to join other units."
There's tons of other language that makes it clear that an IC is actually a part of the unit he joins.

Part of the Unit yes; part of the Squad, no.
The unit tests for Red thirst(this includes the IC) the Squad gets the Effects(this is the base unit without the IC; The Tac Squad, The Terminator Squad, the Assault Squad, Etc).

Squad and unit are synonyms in 40k.
