It is possible, and fairly easy I suppose, but it is trickier to get into some nooks and crannies in the corners and and such because of the brush being hampered, but i don't think it should cause you too much worry.

I got so annoyed while assembling mine I didn't care about painting it afterwards, I was just determined to prove to it that it could be built. I finished it eventually but the doors don't shut but you could paint it afterwards. Just get to work right away though as they can be frustrating to build and if you've only got two days... well I'm not great at building space marine vehicles in general but it ain't easy.

I would recomend magnatizing the doors, as after a while they can become slightly worn down, and don't want to stay closed, and no matter what, that won't stay shut and the door will just fall open all the time.

It might be possible to assemble the doors to the lower part and also the top "engine" upper section.

Then pin the buttress/vane thingys rather than glue them, or maybe use a pva glue.

Once the games you need it for are finished you should be able to unassemble into the sub components which would be possible to paint.

Hope that makes sense and helps

Honestly, I just got frustrated with the 2 I have that I tried to assemble 1st, paint later, and ended up gluing the doors shut. Takes some of the fun out of them I suppose, but it's a quick, hassle free way to go....

From what I have seen of the parts breakdown and construction of the DP can understand why people might have difficulties.

Sorry if this is a dumb statement and blindingly obvious, but a lot of dry fitting and alignment is needed before glueing the parts together by the looks of things.

Well I would Spray Paint the inside Black before putting it together, & maybe add little Metal Drybrushing and red & Greens for lights and buttons to inside, the outside is easy painted later.

I just glue the doors shut and paint away.
But then I always hated all those petals crammed together when you have more that 3 pods in an area.
The interior leftovers make great bits for other projects.

I'm glad to see other people hated assembling that model as much as I did. I'm going with simpler proxies in the future.

Well i decided i gonna take a bit more time over them and do it properly, i wonder if i take the boxes, you think my opponent will allow me to use them instead of the assembled pods? heheheh

thanks for all the replies, i think logistically it would just be a chore to paint them assembled or keep them semi assembled sorta the way chibi bodge suggested..

Good luck with the games and the building of pods.
Long term is the right call to make. Take your time and you won't regret it.
