Such troops can always re-roll their rolls to hit in close combat against their designated preferred enemy.

Does this mean that if I score a hit I could re- roll it to try and get a miss so that I stay in combat for longer? Interestingly, the twin- linked rule specifies you only roll misses.

Yes, that is a valid tactic.

Playing chess doesn't require skill, it just requires you to be good at chess...

...that would be a skill

Some people reroll successful hits to trigger special rules by rolling sixes.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

You can only do this is the wording is vary particular. Many special abilities which grant rerolls specify "reroll failed to-hit" or "reroll failed morale" only apply to "failed" rolls. If the ability giving the reroll specifies that you may only reroll a failure then you cannot reroll a success. However it it doesn't specify such as "may reroll reserve rolls" or "may reroll close combat attacks" then you may use it regardless of success or failure. Another important thing to note is the use of may. Some entires say you "may" reroll failed wounds, but you do not have to unless it says "must" or some other very firm word. In which case though you can't reroll your successful ones you can still retain your inital fails.

Double check the wording in the entry and use it where you can. It's a great trick.

"I drive a big car, cuz I'm a big star. I'll make a big rock-and-roll hit." "I am a big car, and I'm a strip bar. Some call it fake, I call it good-as-it-gets."

I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.
