I already have an IG army, wishing I had gone for a zombie guard army in retrospect. The regret has led me to want to ask:

I am looking to start me second army, what im looking for is something completely crazy fun, with loads of conversion potentials. Im curently helping a friend build a scottish ork army so maybe not orks. But all the converting kilts is geeting me excited to do some more crazy stuff. Whats left for crazy awsomeness? suggestions on pure "fun" armies? maybe some inspiration?

Problem is you got the "Westboro Baptist Inquisition" protesting every soldiers funeral.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

Finger through the Horus Heresy Books and read up on the various Chaos Legions. Some ideas I've always wanted to do, but was restricted by both money and shelves space include:

Lost and the Damned Footslogger traitor Guard (with Mutants as Conscripts and a Slavemaster as Chenkov).

Nightlords Raptor Cult army using BA rules.

And the Harlequin clowncar army using DE rules and a ton of wyches (normal ones for troops, Succubi or Lelithe for HQ, and obviously Harlequins converted from Wyches for Elites, and mounted transports for everyone, hence "clowncar").

You just made me choke on my soup.

This is the next best thing since "MennoKnights"...

Anyways, if you're looking for a really convertable army that's neither guard nor orks, I'd say either tyranid or CSM. If you're looking for something that's more fun, I'd probably lean slightly towards CSM. You can really let your imagination run wild with these guys.

Plus, kilted khorne berzerkers = win.

I will have to go check out the CSM book out, I have a Tyranid book and have been dreaming about making a kind of Undead Abomination looking army to use for them. Patch work zombies, ghouls etc. Gene Stealers kinda look a lot like the fantasy ghouls...

kilted khorne berzerkers would be pretty easy and a ton of fun to make, although I was also curious about going a more sadistic route of using chaos's perspective army. (Chaos army but with an angelic theme rather than demonic - call them Children of the Gods or some such)

In White Dwarf 300 I believe there is a Death Guard Army that uses zombie heads, it is very cool.

....CSM..overall make for great conversion fodder.

do Imperial Ravers... catachan models, paint 'em all up as if they're going to a rave... give them "combat drugs", and instead of grenades they get glowsticks.

Wave your arms and shout.

How about some retro-necrons? You could call them the Retrons. I'm thinking something like Commandant Sixfour from Risk Factions.
